Ocho says Leggette is coming to see him

Is Ocho going to run routes for him and catch the ball too?

Because that is the only way I can see this helping, but hey at least the dude is trying something because he just saw his stock drop heavily in yr2, from COKER balling in big spots and TMAC winning OROY hitting 1K in his 1st year in the NFL! (Oooooh that felt good typing!)

I still think he may be a serviceable WR but honestly DM still needs to keep flooding the WR room with talent imo, so XL better try something and quick. Otherwise he will be another bust and washed out of league in 2-3 years.

He was a raw receiver.  NFL average for receivers to come into their own is 3 years.

There is no doubt he has been a disappointment.

No reason to ship him off on his rookie contract.  He has the ability- and he has made some fantastic catches.

Color me 1 that is more than willing to see what he does next season.  Isn't going to cost the team anything to do so.

I am all for giving him a chance but I do think u heavily shop him for a trade.  If he fixes his mental aspect he might be able to stick somewhere but so far in his NFL career he hasn’t been very good at football.

I don’t think XL’s problem are his feet, it’s the mental side of his game that holds him back.

Until he figures out how to be more mentally aware on the field and react accordingly, he’ll never become a useful player at this level.

I see what you are saying, but I would counter by saying the feet are part of the mental side of his game.  And you say  the same thing here--about his field awareness.

Legette is a country boy who played QB in high school.  He was learning WR at SC and had a year as a starter--he did well, but he was raw when we picked him.  He is not smart, but he is sincere and trustworthy, based on my assessment of him from the outside looking in.  He has had to overcome adversity in his personal life, his professional life--so I would not rule him out.  He got a lot of attention (his accent) early on and it occurred to me that he might not know the difference between being laughed with and being laughed at--this suggests some possible social weaknesses that a small towner needs to develop in a very competitive business in big cities.  So he needs experience, coaching, culture, and confidence.  Does he have it?  The clock is winding down.

He is faster- stronger- more athletic talent than anyone else in that receiver room.  I have seen enough of him to know that if he can put it together- he will be huge for this team.

Yes- no promise that he'll be that way-  but there really is no reason he can't get it done.  I dont believe he is is incapable.  He has the work ethic- and the desire.

Whatever you think we can get for him- isn't going to be good enough to not give him the opportunity to grow with this team. This is why you draft players, To develop them.

I think he needs to work on his strength. Of course, his hands. I have seen him open, I am not sweating his route running as hard as I could sweat it. He is in line for significantly fewer snaps. Smaller role. Especially if they add to the room.
I’d settle for some 50/50 downfield success and general improvement, that people can see. Just get himself trending up.

If his hands were better he could do a lot of what a receiving TE could do. Get his brain out of the way maybe he executes with the hands. If he could just be better at coming down with the ball he could be a contributor.

I guess bottom line for me is his money is guaranteed and it will cost to roster a new WR on top of that - I’d give him this camp and probably at least up to the trade deadline.

And I’m sorry but the QB needs to tighten his part of the deal too. They don’t seem to be relating to each other very well.

Speaking of my guy ...

Says some tone deaf stuff out the gate.  I mean I don’t really disagree with him on some of it, but he has no self awareness there.
People want to hear him say the cliche  stuff “it is all on me, I have to be better” etc.

And Cam is taking him round the mulberry bush with the long question.. I’m watching XL try to follow him.
