Lance, Howell, draft any dude**

Pickett is complete ass dude, complete ass.

But defending this signing puts you in another stratosphere as a panther homer, so mad respect

Lance, Howell, draft any dude

None of these guys have done anything notable in the NFL...and we have not gotten to the draft where I'd take a flier on Green.

This has nothing to do with being a homer, I didn't want Pickett the year we took Corral, and I don't want him now; however, he's the BACKUP so it really doesn't matter.

Its only 4 guaranteed, he will never see 7.5

Maybe injury related game time/starts. Not really much left in FA they could grab, if they wanted an upgrade over Pickett in the season they'd have to trade for someone

We also see QB's released / traded etc before that point to.

I don't need you to tell me anything, I'm aware it could happen, I'm also aware Bryce hasn't done enough to warrant one at this time. So regardless of history we have to wait and see.

Thats not the point, I am saying this front office is doing everything in its power to not challenge bryce, why wouldnt they bring in someone more talented than fuging pickett?  Oh yeah, to make bryce look better.  I am saying there is a plan for a pathway for them to extend him and have all the reasons ready.   I mean person and Kaye are making the rounds saying as much

again you are missing the point, both those dudes are way more talented than bryce and Howell starting eclipsed anything young has done while in his 2nd year

I still cannot wrap my head around this move. I mean this guy couldn't make a team as a walk on and they actually want to pay this bum to be a backup here? Dafug is this FO smoking?

my only hope is at a one year deal they're setting the table if BY craps the bed in '26

A 4th round pick won’t be our future QB. Might as well just wait for next year and pick a QB high.. No half measures. Might be possible with our tough schedule and BY as our QB. I think it’s smart to draft OL/secondary depth in the middle rounds this year. QB next year.  This team needs every draft pick desperately. Just my opinion.

The chances of finding a QB in the fourth round are slim but there's still a chance. They have shot themselves in the foot by not addressing the C and LB position, secondary depth is actually not that bad as long as they don't bring Nick Scott back.

First and foremost I am NOT a Bryce fan, but when we talk about current NFL production, all three of those QBs have done nothing at the NFL level, and even though Lance was my preference. He's had a few years to try and crack into a starter role and the same for Howell.

They're all viewed the same in the NFL...back up caliber. IMO that is also what Bryce is, but since he cost a pick swap, a future 1st, second, and DJ Moore, they're going to see it through and there's not a damn thing we can do about it.

And by them, I mean Tepper. While I believe he has stepped back overall, the Bryce timeline is still under his final say.

    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
    • Guessing the price is too rich here given the injury history.  2024 was brutal and production dropped off in 2025 with a few more injuries (albeit rough qb play).    Don’t really understand the narrative that Young can’t benefit from talented upgrades on offense. Especially here with respect to a tight end. Any QB will benefit from talented receivers that threaten the top of coverage and tight ends with skills to stress zone.    The age and injury history, coupled with what he’s likely asking, just probably means we can better spend that money elsewhere.
