So who do you want with our 3rd overall pick?

I don't either. He's not a good enough passer yet.

Why rush my QB when I have running backs? Why rush my QB when he hasn't learn how to get the ball out quick yet? He's not using it as a last resort. He's gotten away from that now.

When he gets his passing to 65% consistently and to other guys not named Smith, he can rush as much as he wants. But so far this year, after 9 games this coaching staff is no closer to teaching him the basics, and better 3 step drops and 7 step drops from under center and how to time them with his receivers than we were after the first 3 games.

That's why he holds on to the ball. He's "looking" for receivers to "get open". And if you have to do that, you're much too slow for the NFL.

You gotta read the body language of you receivers and be able to tell if they're going to beat coverage before they get open and fire in the spot you are supposed to before they get open. Trust that they will do their job.

Option #1 - Hope either Barkley or Jones is worthy of the #2 pick and a Miami, Minnesota, or Washington knocks our socks off with a trade deal that still allows us to get a franchise player in the 1st round, along with some other assets to add to our arsenal

Option #2 - Kalil. Agreed with other posters that we slide Gross to RT, and give cam a franchise LT for the next decade. It is a need, Kalil looks like the real deal, plus pairing brothers up sounds tremendous.

Option #3 - Blackmon. After watching guys like Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald and AJ Green the past few years, why would we not take him if he is BPA? I know it's mainly a gimmick, but if you watch the Sports Science bit on Justin Blackmon, you will want him and Cam is going to need a #1 WR at some point.

I don't see a Suh or Dareus worthy of a top-5 pick this year, so we unfortunately can't draft our franchise DT here. I disagree that we spend this pick on a CB or LB. I think we wait and see what Butler and Hogan can do when Beason and Edwards back healthy and year 2 under McDermott's system.

You guys wanting to pick Blackmon realize hes 6'1 runs a 4.5 40, has only gone for 2 plays over 30 yards this year and plays in a system offense right? Floyd has become a better prospect then Blackmon.

If we end up picking #2 I want either Kalil or a slight trade down and getting Claiborne.

I agree. The highest rated DT is Brandon Thompson of Clemson and he is projected at the 16th pick. I also see a need for Zack Brown but he would be my 3rd choice.

It's been a top need for the past 5 years. Still is:

Works every time. Longest pass today was 18 yards. And it was to a tight end.

Lafell. Naanee. They're no Mushin. I sure as hell don't want another QB. We need a #2 WR. And O-men. To run.

What the hell are you talking about? I ve been watching ur post and saying stuff like aj green should have been the number one pick and cam hasnt proven he's a passer yet? You said we still need to try to find a tom brady and dalton is better than cam? Alot of people are debating is this kid a top 5 qb right now and ur saying he's not good enuff? Having the best rookie season by a qb isnt good enuff along with completing almost 60% of his passes? Thank god your not calling the shots.

Dalton's just a game manager. But that makes him a better NFL QB than Newton because he doesn't turn over the ball

Cam Newton - 10 interceptions

Andy Dalton - 9 interceptions

He sure seems to be turning the ball over at a high rate for a "game manager".

Or is it that our "high risk" QB is only turning the ball over at the rate of a "game manager"?

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
