How good do you think the team would be under Rivera with a better GM?

Hypothetically speaking....

I mean Rivera's getting a lot of flak for this loss but let's look at how unbalanced the allocation of cap is. Why are we starting Bills' cuts at defensive tackle while we've got three starters sharing the load at RB? Why do we think we need three starters at running back when the Giants basically proved to us how productive a running game could be even when you're starting a guy who's been on like 40 rosters in the past 4 seasons, including ours?

What if Jerry Reese ran the team? Would his philosophy of "you can never have too many pass rushers" mesh well with the kind of defense Ron wants on his field?

Better personnel on both our lines would be making many of our people now under performing look like superstars.

The Giants running back (as you pointed out) is a perfect example of this.

We used to build our team that way but some where along the way Hurney forgot that lesson.

Now he pays our running backs (a plentiful commodity in this league) like they are rare diamonds and we have no other positional needs to address.

Much better, I think, if he didn't have to look at Carlos Rodgers and Asante Samuel and then go into a press conference and announce we're not interested.

We're starting a god damned 5th round rookie at CB. You can't tell me any coach wouldn't be better if their team was managed well enough that they had more options available to them.

Lets be honest here. Hurney builds a team off of his coaches preferences. The only time he may have ever made moves independently of the head coach was the 2010 draft, when Jerry decided he was going to let Fox go following the season.

When Rivera got here we 3 of his former players from the chargers right away. Naane,tutu,applewhite. This year we added that 3rd RB everybody seems to hate us having and guess what he came from the Chargers too. I am sure if Rivera thought it was a bad idea he could have had some veto power their.

We also went out and got 2 tight ends right away last year,something that was not on the previous roster because Fox had no use for them. I could go on and on but if you can't see all the changes made for Rivera's preferences since he got here you are blindly hating Hurney. Same could be said for Fox all the way through 09.

I think if we just payed for few FAs more often we would be in a better place right now. If Fox had one thing right it was to use Vets and pepper in Rookie. His first few years he was a master at that. If we would have kept to that we prob would be better right now.

On offense we have two pro-bowl linemen, a pro-bowl wideout, a franchise QB, exceptional running backs, and with all that we managed 7 points in garbage time against a team that got gashed by the Cowboys and Bucs. It's easier to make the talent argument on the defensive side of the ball, but I don't think it has much merit there either.

I disagree. Fox was starting DeShaun Foster over DeAngelo....nuff said.

      Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
