Wanna know what's going to destroy football?

Its not Roger Goodell and his new rules.

Its not PEDs.

Its not media over-saturation.

Its JURIES.

http://m.nbcsports.com/content/lawyer-says-riddell-“-very-serious-trouble”-after-lawsuit

Rhett Ridolfi, a 22-year-old man who suffered brain damage and partial paralysis while playing high school football in 2008, has been awarded millions of dollars in damages in a lawsuit against the helmet maker Riddell.

And Ridolfi’s attorney, Frank Azar, who is also suing Riddell on behalf of several former NFL players, says this is just the beginning.

The jury in Ridolfi’s lawsuit did not find that Riddell’s helmets are defective but did find that Riddell didn’t properly warn the players who wear its helmets of the risks associated with brain injuries in football.

Not counting on it, but hopefully judges in this/these kind of case(s) will throw out these ridiculous verdicts.

The US is awesome in many ways but your legal system sucks and is slowly ruining your country (and the rest of the world). Why the hell should a company that makes safety equipment be liable for an injury they are trying to prevent but it is obvious they can't 100% protect you from it.

I realise that what happened to Ridolfi sucks and he's looking for somebody to blame but what are Riddell to do?

the dumber a person, the more chance they have to win an idiot lawsuit. this goes back to the dumb bitch who sued whackdonald's when she spilled coffee on herself.

If coffee is hot enough to give you 3rd degree burns then something is wrong.

she was a 79 year old woman who required skin grafts and had to stay in the hospital for 8 days. She initially tried to gain back her medical expenses and lost wages which only costed around 20 thousand. and McDonald's only offered 800 dollars. So she had to hire a lawyer since McDonald's didn't want to take responsibility for their super hot coffee.

Far from a dumb bitch. I don't know how that story turned into the poster child for frivolous lawsuits.

I am betting that the award gets overturned on appeal....much like the award for the lady who sued McDonald's.

Juries are known to be base up if idiots. Most intelligent people are able to get out if jury duty. The only ones who sit are those too dumb to get out if it...or who has nothing else better to do,

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
