Am I the only one that wants us to be a conservative ground and pound offense?

The knocks I am hearing about Shula is "he has a very conservative track record" Thats not a bad thing at all. People say we won games down the stretch last season because Cam didnt throw as many picks. While that is true, another main reason why we won those games is three simple words. Time Of Possession. Show me a team that dominates game after game in time of possession and I will show you a playoff contender.

I for one am hopimg we go to a ground a d pound, conservative, draw play on 3rd and 20 type offense (ok joking about that last one) but you get my point. Not only that but we definately have a good enough defense to go back to a focused run game and dominate time of possession.

In the NFL there are certain aspects that fans have a hard on for. Some love sacks, some love tackles for a loss, some love blocked punts. Me? Nothing in the NFL makes me happier than (besides winning ofcourse) than a offense that is constantly on the field and the camera zooms in on opposing QBs biting their finger nails and pacing on the sidelines. I love teams that dominate time of possession.

Thats what I never liked about Chud, he didnt value that. Why on earth do you want to score so fast only to give the ball right back to Matt Ryan and Drew Brees, I love that pigskin. I love it so much I want our offense to never give it back to the opposing teams. Keep that rock! Keep it for eternity.

Uhh, I got sick of conservative offense with John Fox.  The Panther's have Cam Newton, one of the better up and coming QB's in the NFL, use his talents and put the points up.

Also you've got to use Cam's strength's to the benefit of the team and one of those is his legs and running ability, so that's also got to be incorporated as well.

Screw that Ground and Pound and Cam doesn't need to run BS.

We actually have the players on offense that can pull off Foxball. The difference being this team can convert third downs with the oversized running back with a cannon arm taking snaps.

I would love to see us pound the ball, control the clock, wear tems down and keep our #1 defense fresh. Then, when we have the occasional third down, let Cam the gunslinger take over. Superbowl. Boom.

Balance. Balance. Balance.

We should be balanced on offense. Also I think that balance should be achieved on offensive plays. Furthermore when the Panthers have the ball, for every pass that is thrown a running play should be run to equal proportions, otherwise known as balance.

BALANCE!!!

For me it isn't adopting one style of offense over another it being able to both run and pass based on what the defense is giving us. Good offenses take advantage of the defense's weaknesses and create mismatches. From game to game you have to adapt and change the gameplan to score against different teams with different strengths. A chessmatch from week to week..

Meh average of possession is kinda random. Here's the listings. What matters is being about to possess the clock when you need to and score when you need to.

I would agree we need to get "more conservative" in the sense that we need to be able to pull out the power running game when we need to control possession; however, the modern NFL is not based on the ground. All the rules favor the pass game now. If you can't pass, you can't win.

Is it impossible to be good at passing AND running the ball? People want one or the other, but why not both? Pass early, get a lead, run the ball and contol the game to put it away!8

Its not impossible and we have the personnel to do both (running more) .....I think you run the ball first which opens up play action... throw in some read option and Cam's scrambling ability you have a lethal balanced offense........  I think this year we are going to have better WR corp.... Smitty, Olsen, Hixon, & Lafell to stretch the field..... Gettis or Pilares  in the slot for short yardage ..... or two TE set with Olsen and Brandon Williams (if he lives up to his expectation)
