On to Buffalo

Buffalo had there standard once a season game against NE were they show up....always happens.

Rookie EJ Manuel lead the Bills to 14 pts. Other score was a Def TD.

Manuel went 18-27 for 150 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs. No sacks. Played a very efficient game for an opening day rookie.

2nd biggest surprise was how bottled up CJ Spiller was.

To win this game we need a repeated defensive showing.... EJ isn't Wilson. Hard to imagine he can play mistake free if our DL can show up again.

I hope if we put as much pressure on Manuel that we put on Wilson, the rookie will crack and make some stupid mistakes. I'd love to see a pick 6 for our D to celebrate with

With this Panthers team nothing is certain especially after losing to Kansas City last year. The defense can only hold up for so long. If the offense is coming in not stringing together any drives and going 3 and out the defense will be gassed.

The offense has been stagnant since the preseason and until Shula lets Cam loose I think there will be more of the same.

Pie for the thread title alone.  The Panthers lost yesterday.  Played well against a very good opponent, but reality is we're 0-1.  15 more chances.  Good news is only NO got a win yesterday.  The Bucs loss against the Jets was very bad.  I am bummed the Panthers lost a close game again, but I would feel much worse as a Bucs fan today.

But on to Buffalo- this is going to be another tough challenge.  Their defense is very good- they had a good shot to win yesterday.  The Bills over the last few years have had a lot of games like the Panthers- play well enough to win and lose close.  EJ Manual makes their offense more scary because of his mobility.

The Panthers offense needs a better showing.  Our gameplan yesterday looked a lot like Fox circa 2002.  You got to take a few shots down field with a guy like Newton.  I do think if the defense can play well again we can rattle Manual.

I can see a 20-17 type game.  Yesterday was not a must-win game, but honestly, this game is as much of a "must-win" as any game Rivera has had in his tenure.

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
