Beason traded?

Does he make guys like Luke better? In the film room/sidelines/etc? I think so....and that IMO is worth more than a 7th.

Does he? are u in the film room/sidelines/etc and can vouch for this?

7th rounder does sound shitty for him though. not gonna argue against that. people are on notice and we will see how the team responds on Sunday.

I notice you didn't say field. So at this point, he's become a coach/cheerleader?  We've got those.

We've also got players like TD to fill the same role you just described, while actually playing well on the field.

Sideline guys and role players still can have big impacts.....if they were vets who were good at one time.

Id rather have a good leader, smart film room guy, motivator who was a roleplayer/backup than a 7th. Part with a respected guy in the offseason rather than in season.

no argument here.

but what good were we doing him by keeping him on our sidelines? what was he proving? he was going to be hitting the market after this season anyway. what good was it going to do him for him to be that guy who had a good attitude on the sidelines but who couldn't get on the field?

forget that 7th pick. it's irrelevant because it was essentially all we could get (or whatever pick we get).

what matters is that him being here was doing nothing for him. he was a cheerleader and a guy who was smart in the classroom...but he wasn't proving himself. he wasn't accomplishing anything. all he was doing was being there, waiting for those 5 minutes a game he might be asked to get on the field.

in new york he's got a better chance to play. in trading him, we are giving him the best thing for him. the compensation we get doesn't matter as far as respect goes. letting him go somewhere where he has a better chance of playing and can make a case for him going forward is a sign of respect.

we need new leaders. new people need to step up. what good is a leader if he can't ever back it up? actions speak louder than words.

True.

He is/was a crippled young leader.

That's a big difference, than a old one,  you can respect as a sage (who doesn't play). Beason is young enough, to where you expect him to play an contribute. Him just being a motivator, wouldn't be fair to him, or the Panthers. It's good he gets a chance to prove himself again with the Panthers.

Panthers have too many good LB's to wait for Beason to get good again, if ever. This is especially true when you consider the Panthers are 1-2, and haven't made the playoffs in years.

STOP being ridiculous bro. Watch your mouth before you disrespect Beason like that!

You know good and damned well that he lead this defense for years! Don't try and play that card here

I don't think a team should give up more than a 6th or 7th for him.

I just don't think you trade him mid season for nothing. He has value to Luke and our D even if not a starter. He is part of our chemistry for 2013 IMO.

As far as owing Beason something? In terms of competition next year if we released after the season. We gave him a fat contract and he was hurt the entire time.... and should of known better bc of the injury concern....sounds like we treated him pretty well.

For someone who generally argues from absolutes, you sure are going into the obsequious realm of intangibles here.....you know...poo that's 100% conjecture on your part and in no way verifiable. Emotionally driven argument and whatnot....

So why not just let him walk...

He could be Luke's backup this year, but instead we trade him for a sack of sh*t.

Because you would get nothing for him if you "let him walk".

We have no idea what that 7th rd pick (or whatever it is) will be. That's better than what Beason gives you now, which is nothing, I'm sad to say.

    • 6 pages of tuka and Seltzer arguing is actually 97 pages long
    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
