[confirmed] Panthers at Saints is being flexed

I'm glad we are playing a night game in the dome.

Cam seems more dialed in the bigger the atmosphere.  In the first half today he looked a step slow with everything.  Not just his scrambling but his drop backs seemed slow.  I think it was because it was a poo atmosphere.  That won't be a problem in the dome.

Or it was the flagrant shot to the face that he took on the first offensive snap of the game.

Fox gets to protect one game which is why they are wanting to keep the 49ers/Seahawks game....

No idea why Fox wouldn't want to keep what could be one of the biggest games of the year in the Panthers/Saints game.

49ers/Seahawks will be the fox game week. More viewers at 4:30. The same reason they scheduled Dallas and Giants game yesterday. I agree the Panthers Saints will be more meaningful in terms of who takes first in the NFCS.

Sweet! What a way to make a bigger statement that the South will be ours again then to show out on SNF in the Dome. Yeah the Saints are a tough team but this panther team is a new breed. I believe we will put it on them for the whole world to see. CJ will be back and maybe Chase too  for some depth at LB. Brees if you thought that hit brooks put on you was bad, wait until you meet the Kraken again lol

Even though I think we can win this game, I don't see how moving the game to primetime is going to benefit us. The Superdome is absolutely electric regardless of the game, and moving this to Game of the Week is going to raise the roof even more.  Hoping the other game gets flexed, because I would love to see another game in Charlotte.

Been reading through this thread, along with the drivel over at Saintsreport.  Pretty evident that the majority of both fan bases have little respect or knowledge of the opposing teams.

For the Saints:  If you haven't watched a couple of their games, you are severly under-rating their defense.  They get after the QB in a way that is very similar to the Panthers.  If i'm not mistaken they are near the top of the league in Sacks.  Rob Ryan has done a great job with that defense, despite how you feel about him.  Cameron Jordan should be mentioned as one of the top pass rushers in the NFC, and their DT's are also underrated.  On offense, Drew Brees is Drew Brees.  Like him or hate him, he will go down as one of the best to ever play the position.  He makes minimal mistakes and also makes the smart throws.  Pierre Thomas is running like a man on fire.  He is pounding the rock, something that the saints did well in their superbowl year.  He and Ingram seem to both be running as if their contracts were on the line (I have no idea if they are or not).

Lastly, Payton is back.  He is a helluva coach who puts his team in position to win games and also puts his team in a position to dominate opponents at home.

For the Panthers:  The defense is for real.  Like it or not, this defense can hang with anybody and can also punish the opposition.  Assuming Charles Johnson is healthy, the saints had better look at giving Brees some help in the backfield or he will be under pressure the whole game.  On offense, the talk of Cam Newton is garbage needs to end.  The dude has led three consecutive fourth quarter comebacks, two on the road against a potential playoff team in the Niners and against the Phins who were also playing for playoff hopes.  The running game is not where it needs to be which should strike fear into our opponents.  If Williams and Stewart get going and the O-Line opens up holes, this offense goes from good enough to dynamic.

I honestly think we split with New Orleans.  I think they take the one in the dome and the Panthers take care of business at home.

They have the d-line to pressure Cam into mistakes and the QB to take advantage of our secondary.  We have the running game to control the clock, keep brees off the field, and the front four to pressure Brees.

It will be a helluva three weeks.

**********With all that said, need to take care of Tampa this week.  It is a must***********

This time if Cam is slow to get up after another cheap shot by a New Orleans player the entire world will hear saints fan's applause and realize just how collelectively disgusting and sick that fanbase really is.

You might want to read this, because you couldn't be more wrong than this. Our fan base is, no matter if it's a rival, very respectful.

Even when the Panthers come to town there is some trash talking, but most are friendly about it. All this post tells me is that you either have never been to a game at the dome, you ran into a few bad fans, or you just have blinded hate for the Saints.

Agreed, but you saying that won't change their mind. These posters on CarolinaHuddle are stubborn. They'll sit here and make comments like "shitdome" and make Katrina jokes, yet claim Saints fans are the d-bags.

I want Tampa trolls this week. Glenn CoCo and Rubberneck, you are cordially invited back to the huddle this time next week. Some of us aren't blind to actual football discussions, though I do not claim to respect the Saints. I hate them more than any other team in the league, and I occasionally spout biased diatribe as well.

Where's that apple bottom roof guy from last year?

    • You could say that-- but if we don't need a starting OT this year, why would you draft a flawed one that is not going to play? (We are coming from different underlying assumptions and perspectives--I see your argument and don't disagree with the premise) Your thinking is based on the assumption that an OT for the future is more important than immediate needs at other positions, or that we can meet other needs in later rounds even if we take the OT in round 1.  I do not think there is but 1 OT worthy of a first-round grade---they are mocked based on need and demand--if we do not have a need for a starter right now, a team at 18 may grab a T that is the 33rd best player--worth it if you have no starting T, but not if you have a starter.  So just because they are mocked around the middle of the first it does not mean that the players are good values--teams get desperate.  QBs are a great example.  Simpson may be worth it in round 1 for the Cardinals, but not the Jets, because they have Geno Smith.  Sure, they will need a QB by next year, but taking Simpson is a reach. I do not see our need, with 2 starters (Walker and Moton) and another possibly returning by the end of the season enough to justify ranking OT over positions like Safety, Will LB--I do not think we replaced A Shawn Robinson (We gonna put a NT out there?  Wharton (280lbs)?  So do we reach in round 1 for a player who may not play much or do we get a Will LB that can cover?  A deep free safety?  A quality center? A playmaking TE?  A DT to replace Robinson?  A wide receiver to balance the secondary?  Long term, if the right player was there, you would be right.  Short term, OT is a luxury at this point, in my view.
    • Put Huey P Newton on the helmet. With his AK.
    • We arent switching. Evero is 3-4 to the core. Given how 3-4 has been a noticeable characteristic of top defenses recently and we have drafted and signed players fir it  I dont know why anyone would think that's a good idea
