Absolutely disgusted.

There were smoking sections in BOA until a couple years ago. And when those smoking sections were open the organization was very upfront and made frequent announcements that at some future date there would no longer be smoking allowed inside the gates of the stadium, so it's not like this was a big secret.

I worked for one of the largest retailers in the country after I retired from the Navy and still smoked. They announced a full year ahead of time that employees would no longer be allowed to smoke on company property when the employee was on the clock. This seemingly simple act saved the employees and the company a lot of money on the group health insurance rates.

That being said- the best people watching experience can be had outside the gates in the hour or so leading up to the game when you can sit and watch all the reactions of people getting turned away at the gates for purses, bags and the like that are now illegal in the eyes of the NFL.

New business alert: a flatbed truck outfitted with small, bus/train station type lockers that people could rent from you to store their purses, bags and other stadium-outlawed items. "$15 for the game, we'll hold your personal property in a personal locker and you have the key."

What are the bags not allowed now? I saw the normal bag inspection line and almost took it even without one because the line was so much shorter.

Prohibited:

  • All non-transparent bags or items, including backpacks, binocular/camera cases, cinch bags, computer bags, diaper bags, fanny packs, purses larger than 4.5" x 6.5", etc."

Items that will be permitted but will be inspected at bag check locations prior to entry:

  • Any transparent plastic, vinyl or PVC bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12"
  • Purses, bags or clutches no larger than 4.5" x 6.5"

This is the NFL policy. This policy includes just about any purse- I certainly don't know of any women who carry a purse that small.

Any idea how many women I saw getting turned back from the gates with their luggage-sized purses? Ever see the pile of umbrellas and other stuff people just stack outside the gate hoping it's their when the game is over?

No doubt, if I knew my last reflexive puff on a smoke would have caused this, then i would ofcourse not do so.

I am just in a sour mood, I want to buy tickets to the jets game, but seriously, after what i went through with this asshole, I truley do not know if i want to go back.

Sucks but it does sound like the guy was power tripping.

Probably mad at life... As many people can be.

Im gettin tickets regardless, im just still sour.

DUUUUUUUDEEEE

I am not arguing your point.

I believe it is everyones right to choose to smoke, however that "right" to choose to smoke should not impede on everyones right to breath fresh air.

fug.

My point is, I was told by a concession stand worker that I could smoke where I did. Turns out that I couldnt. I put it out, however not fast enough to satisfy the guy that got me kicked out.

Your story reminds me of when I got one of my drunk in public arrests and the cop told me to put down my bottle and I chugged it before putting it down and he nightsticked me in the stomach for it.

Good times.

So you refuse to come out and support your team because they won't let you pollute the air with your secondhand smoke. Fan of the year right here

Actually I moved out of NC in 2010 before the smoking ban at BOA.  I don't come to NC during September and December so I don't make it to the games.  Don't know if the Hurricanes still have their smoking section but if they do the Panthers need to follow their lead on it.  It is outside of the arena and is surrounded by fences.  Only one way in and out and doesn't effect nonsmokers.

As far as supporting the team I still I own 2 PSL's  I just sell to other team fans to piss people off.
