Do we beat SF if Amini was healthy?

Secondary lost is that game. We would have dominated the first half and 2nd half would have played out as well

I might not put it that strongly, but they hurt us for sure.

We've been living all year off the notion that pass rush could make up for mediocre corners, but that kind of defense falters against a good OL.

So many close plays in this game excluding the horrendous calls.

A dropped pick 6. Ball goes thru a defenders hands on 3rd. What Cam got just a tad outside on his run to goal line? Steve gets hurt.

But I totally agree once Mitchell went out the coverage changed dramatically. He stays in I say we gut it out and win.

I think in the loss....people forget how good Cam looked in the first half. SF needed half time to figure it out.

That was our chance. Thanks to the secondary....instead of being up we were down. Gave SF gifts.

The 3 and out to start the 2nd half didnt help.

Didnt the Panthers only have 4 pos in the 2nd half? That's huge.

That 8 minute drive with no points was the end of the game IMO. Can't kill most of a quarter and get nothing for it. That drive actually flipped and was a big gain for SF

I hope that Amini is as good as we're hoping he is.  What is that called?  Where the expectation of another is based on the ineptness of their predecessor?

I thought that all the preseason Buzz about Amini was that he's getting it, and was looking to be a high quality OL.  I hope that is the case.  I hope....hope....hope!

Lol at anybody trying to pin this loss on the Defense (same predictable posters as well)

You don't win games in this league by scoring 10 points. You don't even come close to winning playoff games in this league by scoring 10 points.

24 points is a more than reasonable bar that should be reached with the stakes this high. The defense did it's job.

Shula slowing the game down when we are down two scores is what ultimately killed us.

Shula's fault.

I understand the last remaining bastion of his defenders will blindly defend him in the hills and in the streets, in the mountains and in the oceans, in the skies and on the ground, but the coaching staff trying to grind down the game when we were down two scores *is* what ultimately made the game unwinnable.

No, because the line was set and the fix was in. We had no chance and everybody told us before hand. We came out hot on offense and defense and the officials shut us down while allowing the visiting team to do anything and everything illegal they could muster. Calls and no calls it was very one sided. It wasnt a competition it was a coronation. Maybe JR and Gettlemagic will figure out which ref or crime boss to pay off next season.

We could have had Gamble, Amini, Otah or whoever, Vegas didn't care. NFL is entertainment not reality. The stage was set. The story was written before the first snap.

    • I am high, but that’s besides the point! The blue line is not good right now. I’ve said it all year. I don’t think this group meshes well. Slaven has been just OK Niki up and down Miller up and down ghost and Walker have been your most consistent guys. Maybe it comes together more towards the playoffs
    • I was expecting to see more cap room moves by now, which may be to suggest that we are not going to be that aggressive.  I have mixed emotions about that (because I think we have 3 needs on D and 3 needs on O--starters).  If you look to the draft for 3 starters, that is ambitious.  We need 6
    • Yeah we shouldn’t be competing with teams, bidding wise, to sign a WR. There will be one for us and our budget.  I keep saying, how many balls will there be to go around anyway? One thing good I will say for this offense is the ball has been spread around at times. Seems like I remember seeing a large number of guys have caught passes in a game. Or been targeted at least. 3 RBs 4 or 5 WRs 2-3 TEs type of stat lines. 10-11 guys.  Not every week but that happens.    As far as WR in general, we need the smaller agile and quicker component to compliment what is there. After that it should be about depth, having good backups for the starters so we can run things consistently still, if a guy is out for a week or two. That is especially important in game where you have to finish the game with who you made active.
