Darin Gantt excoriates Roman Harper

Harper stayed on the ground after trying to put a shot on Seahawks tight end Luke Willson, but it didn’t work, as he scored the game-winning touchdown. But because Harper stayed on the ground pouting, the Panthers were charged an injury timeout in the last two minutes

The Panthers were able to get by with a secondary full of day-laborers last year because they had a pass-rush. With Greg Hardy missing and the slack not being taken up, this year’s cobbled-together secondary is being exposed, and the 31-year-old Harper provides weekly evidence of that.

I still can't believe we signed that fuger

I can't either. While Gettleman does a pretty good job identifying some talent,he failed at signing other adequate talent. To his defense he brought in Harper as attitude and a stop gag for a front seven that was supposed to be tougher than last year.

Our veteran defensive tackles are showing their age and Hardy left a huge hole on the defensive line. Harper has looked worse because of the anomalies Gettleman didn't account for.

Injuries, suspensions and aging players are part of the game.

I hate to do this but I agree with Gantt. I was yelling at my screen watching the replay.

That's just not good situational awareness. No excuse for a veteran. If you're going to play liked an aged relic, then you at least need to have a good football IQ. He did everything that a player could possibly do wrong on that play. We quite literally would have been better off if he wasn't on the field.
