I'll tell you this right now - with an easier 2nd half schedule and the team getting healthy and POSSIBLY getting Hardy back, they will start to look better and finish around .500.  I expected the Panthers to be a .500 team this year.  Rivera just signed a contract extension and will not be fired this offseason.  This is fun to think about but we're in for at least one more season of him.

Yes. Ron needs the OL. His team. Cam is his QB.

Name 3 HCs that 3 years after they arrived had the same QB when they walked in the door.....and that QB hadn't been or won a Super Bowl.

That is what NFL history shows. It means something. I'd bump the breakdown but it is gone and I'm not doing that over again

As expected, you completely missed the point. And no, it's not Ron's team, it's Richardson's.

Learn to construct a sentence properly, then I'll consider responding to your demands. Even so, your research about an irrelevant factor is ultimately just irrelevant. Jimmy Clausen was the QB when Ron Rivera walked in the door.

I type on my phone, it is quick and often has errors. If you can't deal with that then sorry.

2011 Rivera hire - brought in his own QB within first 1-3 years. That is what happens.

Shaw would be my first choice but he is never leaving Stanford.

Malzhan is a cool outside the box hire. So it will never happen here. Plus no one is willing to expose an expensive QB the way his offenses do.

Some of the shine may be off Sumlin, and he doesn't give two poos about defense.

I wouldn't mind Gase, but how much of his success is him, and how much is it Peyton?

Everybody in SF wants to run Roman out of SF because he is too conservative and bad situation playcalling (sound familiar)

Hue Jackson is already a failed head coach and quickly becoming a folk legend around here since we didn't hire him.

The rest I don't have an opinion on.

But Shaw would be my #1. But will never happen.

Hue Jackson wasn't really given a shot with the Raiders. I think he actually did well for being a interim.

Despite that, there has been a couple of instances where "failed" coaches have come back to become great head coaches.

Not related to your post but some believe Lions offensive coordinator, Joe Lombardi could become head coach soon but reading a lot of feedback from Lions fans that say that Teryl Austin could get more looks just due to his background with Superbowl winning teams.

Calling Hue Jackson a failed head coach may have been a bit unfair, but he has become a folk legend around here since we passed on him as OC

Darrell Bevell

Tom Clements

Dave Toub

Brad Seely

Todd Bowles

If we want someone to develop Cam, get Tom Clements no doubt.  I know there's a growing sentiment that if Ron is gone, we've gotta go retread or college HC, but there's still some strong candidates in the coordinator pool.

Define retread.

If you're talking about an ex Super Bowl coach like Cowher or Gruden, those guys pretty much never duplicate their prior success with new teams.

If you're talking about a guy who had a shot somewhere else that didn't work out, there's a much better track record with those guys.

    • I know it a real homer take but Im not sure Id slam dunk take that list over Smitty.  Smith just played a different way, he had an ability to just take over a game as a matter of will.  The catch against the giants where he caught it and took a helmet that broke his arm mid air, the games against DeAngelo Hall, 05 Bears playoffs, Ice Up Son, the revenge game against us. Those other WRs may have better stat books but love him or hate him, good guy or bad, Smith just played a different game and when he did look out.
    • Absolutely would have to be anther young scorer with either ELC time or a long term contract...    Could see maybe Kyrou or Robertson.... But I really just dont see him being traded you dont trade your leading post season scorer on a long term deal when he isn't even in his prime yet..   not to mention unless you get more than one of those guys at best it would be lateral with unknown team chemistry.
    • was driving down a two lane rural highway this morning as was reminded of this thread.   Minding my own going 60 in the 55. This massive Chevy rolls up behind me so close all I see is grill. Along comes a passing zone and M firm in the right lane.  Does doofus drop over and pass me? Nope he backs off to a solid 2 second separation.   500 feet after the passing zone you can imagine where he was. Back up my ass.
