WR Crabtree worth a look?

After having a subpar season this year, his stock could drop. He also had surgery. Assuming Thomas Davis returns next year, he would be a great one to help his recovery.

Not sure we will go after a WR in the draft. Crabtree would be a nice addition if we don't plan too. What you guys think?

never very good to begin with. Just an average guy.

Rather try to nab someone in the 2nd3rd than deal with him. He's Hakeem Nicks 2.0

Yeh, I'd prefer a pick also, but the draft is tricky. You never know who will fall. It's possible they don't opt for a receiver during the draft. I just thought, for the right price, he would be a nice pickup.

Nah, I think I'll pass on Crabtree.  I don't mind going after a FA #2 WR to play opposite Benji, but I'm thinking someone more like Torry Smith from Baltimore.  Randall Cobb and/or Jeremy Maclin are ideally what we should look for, but their price tags are going to be stupid-high.  Smith will be 26 next month and can be had for a reasonable price, IMO.

Crabtree hasn't really lived up to the potential that he flashed at TT and has only really had one good season in the NFL.

Speed, Speed and more speed.  Have no problem with Crabtree as a receiver however what our team lacks is speed.  It's made a huge difference on the field when the slower veterans were replaced with faster rookies.   Same as our passing game improved from the moment Philly started seeing more time on the field.

I want to do what some of the other QB's in the league do.  Throw the quick out and have it go for 70 yards.  Speed guys dictate coverages, especially when you have a QB who can get them the ball.  Crabtree would be an upgrade on Cotchery, but a downgrade from KB.  I rather add speed next year, ie draft pick, ie Stephen Hill and see what happens.

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
