We should receive compensation for the Greg Hardy fiasco

It's been stated a million times but the reality is Hardy if found guilty would've had a shorter suspension than what he served this season. Financially and on the field the NFL's incompetence nearly cost a dominant and superior and Super Bowl Caliber Panthers team of making the playoffs. Thankfully they rallied and squeaked in but unless we win the Super Bowl we were all expecting then our season has been hampered severely by the NFL's incompetence.

I would take nothing less than an additional first round draft pick for the trouble Roger Goodell caused the franchise. I also think the Vikings should ask for the same.

The problem here is when NFL teams are asked to absorb the impact for the NFL leaderships poor decisions. We stepped in front of Goodell and got hit by an 18wheeler practically.

The NFL should do the right thing and offer compensation to the teams who were most affected. It makes no sense that a player accused of something that is a 6 game penalty should miss an entire season. Hardy and Peterson got paid so they don't really need any compensation. The teams didn't get their all prop players on the field for 10 games. Again I ask where is the compensation.

While we don't agree on much, this is one instance where I'm right with ya.

I've been saying for months the manner which the league handled this situation did nothing but punish the team. The least the league should do is allow the team to spend up to the amount of the lost salary on other players/FAs. In other words, whatever the Panthers paid Hardy this year should be made available to pay for another player or players to augment the roster.

Lesson learned. I never believed he should have been tagged to begin with. However the league screwed up I don't believe they should lessen the risks of and therefore encourage the signing of questionable to criminal players. That would be the wrong precedent to set IMO.

Agreed.

Rodger Goodell royally fugged the Panthers and Vikings.

As weird as Hardy is, clearing his name meant more to him than playing (I guess). Apparently Goodell didn't think about players wanting to possibly appeal the judges decision and decided not to come up with an alternative crisis management plan in case that happened.

There needs to be one 8 game suspension that is unpaid for players convicted of domestic violence in traditional court. If a player chooses to appeal and wins the appeal the suspension still stands (obviously as he will have already served it) but he gets his money back. This way a player can actually "pay" for what he has done and get back on the field without the legal system and Goodell royally fugging up a franchise.

    • I think the qualification has changed over time though. A deep ball play used to take 4 to 6 seconds for the receiver to get to that spot on the field. Now a receiver can be there in 2.5. That's less time than most QBs have to set and throw. In my mind a deep route takes time to develop. A crossing route and a deep route can't take the same amount of time at full speed. You can have 4 deep balls on the same drive,  almost 5 if you do 5 20 yard throws goal line to goal line. That doesn't even make sense when you say it out loud.
    • The sad part is it looks manicured enough that he's aware it's running away from him.  Also, I just wanted to give you some fun loving grief on King Haynes today having a chance to throw a game winning TD, and was wildly errant, and ultimately picked off to end the game.  So happy I won't have to hear anything else about The Golden Calf of Bristol lite ever again watching college football.
    • I just think Panthers believe in Bryce far more than the fans do and he is most likely going to be the QB at least the next two seasons. the real shot of us moving from Bryce is not getting an extension, till then they are going to give him every chance to succeed and I just want to win.
