RR: OC Shula did a good job at end of the season

As long as Ron Rivera and Mike Shula are part of this organization your franchise QB will never be much better than he is now.

Sorry, but your QB is going into his 5th year, a contract year, and he's still being coached and treated as though he were a rookie. He's playing with a glorified college-style offense, his QB coach did nothing in the NFL and from one week to the next no one seems to know what the identity of this offense is- power running team this week, pass first next week... who knows?

Not surprised, but a shame that we are willing to accept that kind of inepitude with so many jobs riding on it.

Shula's archaic crawlball offense simply isnt cut out for today's NFL. His "clock control" offense just doesnt work anymore.

There are too many moving parts that have to be perfect all drive for it to yield 7 and defenses are too aggressive.

It's done, but we're still desperatley trying to lead the league in T.O.P. rather than points scored or wins.

Rivera seems to know nothing about Offense and it shows. He says once we started the no huddle we started to do well. He doesn't understand just because something works a few times doesn't mean it's a winning formula for every fuging down. If anything Ron saying Shula did good shows Ron is completely outclassed when it comes to offense. He trusts Shula to much and I bet he's just reiterating Shulas excuses to him. No personnel, no speed guy, blah blah blah.

Am I the only one that would much rather be rid of Rodgers than Shula? Yeh we all know Shula is terrible but he had a CFL second string O Line and a set of young, slow and inexperienced WRs with no chemistry with Cam to start the season. TO be honest, for the first 9 games, our defence was equally as poor as our offence but no one seems to be jumping on McDermott for that?

To be honest Special teams has been dreadful ALL YEAR and has done nothing to help the offence with terrible starting position and some key missed kicks and blocks. This has been on the scheming and discipline of the special teams units, while some of the deficiencies on O and D have been on execution and new personnel.

You guys really need to address this anger in the right place, if we can only get rid of one coach this season it NEEDS to be Rodgers instead of Shula.

When you have a QB like Cam short and medium passes are not enough due to his completion percentage. He will miss too many throws to beat the top level teams. It won't work. You have to have an elite deep threat WR who can dominate, take the top off the defense, and go get the ball in the air over a DB. We had that in Steve Smith when we made the SB, and had other successes. Cam doesn't have a SS like Jake had, and so you see the offense struggling. Without a superstar WR our offense will be weak. The deep ball can make up for Cam's completion low completion percentage in the same way in made up for Jake's low completion percentage until his injury. After his injury he really couldn't throw the deep ball.

The draft is not likely to yield the type of WR we need. We might be able to get what we need in FA. Anyone know which WRs will be available?

Just heard this from Rivera's mouth and almost gagged on my sandwich. So odds are everyone's favorite OC is not going anywhere...unless DG cans him. Highly unlikely since the HC picks his staff. We are in for another dose of Shula in 2015 it appears.

I told everyone this as soon as we stumbled into the playoffs.

    • It’s not new. That particular claim has largely disappeared because it has become untenable, but a few games into his rookie year when the playbook/gameplan/personnel/everything was terrible there was endless claims, posts, even threads made that Bryce Young was physically incapable of throwing the ball 20 yards downfield in the NFL. It was also argued that physically throwing the ball 20 yards in the NFL was somehow different than college. Once he threw the ball 20 yards, the goal posts moved to 30 yards, etc. I’m not going to use the search function for you, the point wasn’t as much that one claim as it was that that was one claim out of many that has made it very difficult to have a reasonable discussion here.
    • I mean, I can get a ball downfield 40 yards.  There would be a couple massive issues with me doing it.   My ball placement would be off the charts bad.  Second, for me to get it 40 yards I'm gonna have to moon it......which would give DBs the opportunity to make plays on balls that wouldn't exist if a better QB were throwing it.  Which is all an exaggerated explanation of the Bryce issue.  To many play the literal game w/ Bryce when it comes defending him.  Every NFL QB likely can loft one up around 50 yards.  Every QB in the NFL can't get a ball 30 yards downfield in the same windows.  Or the same ball placement.  That's the Bryce issue.    But I also think mixed into that is just his QB DNA.    Take a young Brees, it was in his DNA to stress defenses and takes shots.  He would flat out be Delhomme-ish at times.  Which is coverage and assignment altering.  Brees would throw balls into triple coverage 40 yards downfield.  Is that smart? Sometimes it is.  Not because the play gets made but you force the secondary to play honest.
    • Tbf were not going to the superbowl this year so the development of our young wr is invaluable  As a side note 5 of our wr are in their 2nd year or less ( t Mac, Coker, tremayne, horn, x)  It's def a promising youth movement
