Colts are gonna royally fug their salary cap

TY is great, Reggie is hanging in there. But that offensive line is full of 5s. Compared to the Panthers it might look good but that line is not considered good.

Yea... a line that holds playoff teams back for 7 sec is not how you say full of 5s. Luck has had the most time to throw of any QB in the playoffs.

How can teams expect to stay competitive handing out contracts like this? QB is important, yeah, but look at the Saints situation. Brady even had to take a pay cut, and now the Pats-for better or worse-are back in the SB. Point is: TEAMS can't maintain long term success with these huge deals.

Truth is that this contract is not that different from Brees, Romo or a bunch others. The cap won't get ridiculous until year 3 of the new contract add then quarterbacks routinely get restructured and extended. We spent 31 million this year on 2 DEs and had 20 million in dead cap space and still fit things under the cap. It won't doom them as much as people think.

Whats better?  Overpay Top 5 - 15 QB's and kill the cap?

or, let them walk, find a Game Manager for around 8 million/year and spend the rest on DL/OL and play smash mouth football instead?

There are only a couple of QB's worth killing your cap over and thats debatable.

After 3 seasons, Newton had produced 13,364 total yards and 92 total TDs. After 3 seasons, Luck has 13,862 total yards and 98 total TDs.

No telling how much Cam would have if his competition was as weak as Luck's every season, and he played in a "dome".

All hail the great Andrew.

Bonus...Interceptions after 3 seasons:

Newton: 42

Luck: 43

Lost fumbles...

Newton: 6

Luck: 13

The haters are so right. Cam hasn't earned squat (SARCASM). It's all about the QB...nothing else. If you gave Cam's numbers to Luck and Lucks' to Cam, the teams probably wouldn't have done much different (except for doubling up on Cam's fumbles leading to a few more losses due to Rivera's conservative "close games which MAGNIFIES MISTAKES" style).

P.S. It's not Cam's fault that he had to be both his team's #1 passing and rushing threat all the way until 5 weeks ago. If anything, that's a point in his favor for already having earned a new contract, not the fact that he didn't do it the traditional "passing only" way.

There is one issue that many folks forget to look at when looking at "total" TD's when talking about Cam.

His crazy rookie rushing TD's isn't sustainable, long term.  It's just not.  You need to look at passing TD's, as that is the only thing that will/can get better and remain consistent.

Most of Cam's rushing TDs, rookie or not, come from goal line rushes. That is most certainly sustainable. Cam will always be 6'5 250, & nearly unstoppable inside the 5.

Belichick with a talented defense can confuse just about any young QB, or any QB for that matter. Add to it the horrible Colts defense and you have a blowout. I don't think we've seen Luck's ceiling by any means.

Yeah, but if he is going to be the highest paid.. shouldnt he be the best QB on the field at least? Let alone in the NFL?

For the 49th straight year a $20m QB will not win the Super Bowl. None even made Championship weekend.

The Colts have no reason to offer him a deal right now. That is, unless they expect the cap to raise so drastically in the next two years that he could get even more. He's a passing QB in a passing league. So I think people have good reason to see him as the brightest star going forward.

We all thought Cam would attract offensive weapons that want to be a part of a great offense. But when Shula took over the opposite became true. Cam steals touches from skill players. Luck throws 40 times a game. You see guys wanting to play with luck to get paid.

I don't want to be the guy that comes with irrational bias against Luck. He's a very good QB. But he makes some of the dumbest plays for someone considered so smart. Safeties, Fumbles, and picks. But he gets away with it because that offense will keep attacking.

You have to admit that our cap had to have come into play. The majority of these weapons were far out of our price range and we didnt even bother

This is just not accurate.  Possible, yes, realistic, no.

2 things:

1: Look at the rushing TD numbers every season he has been the starter.

2: You don't want to use your franchise guy like that.
