Does Gettleman Send a Message to Cam This Offseason?

The premise of my thread starts with this tweet from Bill Voth:

Cam? Nah. Team around him would like to see pieces, not just $. RT @Panthers545: @blackbluereview Do you think Cam may want out of Carolina?

Basically Voth is saying what many of us have felt for the past 4 years. Cam needs talent around him. He needs protection and targets to reach his potential. Voth suggests having talent to compete is more important than money, not to say money doesn't matter.

If the Panthers want to sign Cam to a long term deal, do they need to make a down payment in the form of personnel? In the Past, we've seen organizations go all offense in a draft. Could we see money spent on offensive free agents?

If I had decision making power, I would bring in multiple veterans and rookies on the offensive line. I'd try to get a joker Tight End in the draft. I'd try to get a receiver in the draft and free agency. If the defense takes a step back, you live with it because Cam needs to see a future for himself here. His legacy has taken a hit because we pumped so many assets into our defense. It's time to show Cam some love.

I wish that he'd had the tools last year. Now we have to extend him for years not really knowing if weapons and protection would help.

If I were Gettleman, I would not upgrade the O-line, hit reset on the entire receiving corp, and let Cam have a mediocre year to have an excuse to re-sign him a little cheaper and save long term loot.

Gravy train with biscuit wheels, as long as 7 wins doesn't win the division.

Wait, what?

It MUST start with shoring up the o-line. You don't do that, you'll get more of the same from this past season.

Yeah I think so. At times this year Cam lost options because we had them blocking. We would use 7 to block 3 and Cam is trying to find someone open...

We have to make sure Greg or TE2 is on a route every pass play. We cannot be forced to block with our weapons.

    • They are 1 and 9 against the  Bucs in the past 10 games. the Panthers go as young goes.  QB1 ‘s are suppose to dictate and overcome  and elevate Everything the QB does affects every part of the team and Bryce is uneven. Canales and Bryce have  an uneven relationship too  as for Evero, the only thing that might save him is the injury to Baker’s left shoulder and oline injuries. I don’t even know how he is out there   I really feel their season ended last Sunday Canales’ division record isn’t great   Getting owned by the Saints and Bucs isn’t a good look
    • Frankly surprised by the amount of people that want to hang Evero. This was a defense that was almost universally considered the bottom of the barrel before this season started. We’ve managed to stat our way to the middle of the pack whatever that means. Those critical of the zone schemes, what do you want? When even JC is getting burnt one on one by Olave you have little choice. There definitely have been moments where the zone blitz stuff has bit us. That said, are the third string linebackers (and nick Scott) covering poo anyway? This unit had only conceded 10 points going into the fourth quarter despite a litany of bullshit penalties on both sides. Them over performing is the biggest reason we are still in playoff contention.
