Bucs release Josh McCown

Mariota played without a playbook in Oregon. At this point, he will be a project but he has the arm. If he is smart enough to grow into a pro style offense, which would take some time, I would go with him over Winston. My issue with Winston is his throwing motion, he takes forever to wind it up, like Byron Leftwich. I doubt u have that much time in the NFL with the ways windows close quickly. That might lead to a lot of picks!

Mariota has plenty of physical talent, but who knows if he can run an NFL offense. He's boom or bust. Sound familiar?

I hope they pick Winston. Yeah, he has the tools and should be able to run an NFL offense, but this guy is a ticking time bomb off the field. His off field issues are constant. Well, that and he was an absolute turnover machine in college last year. If he starts as a rookie for a terrible team, he may set the NFL single season turnover record.

    • So, I like Shedeur, but as I’ve said in previous threads, in terms of the upcoming draft, Mendoza is the one guy I would lock in on.
    • You’re in the minority,  I’m aware of his reputation for holding onto the ball too long, but give me someone whose issue is holding onto the ball too long but can hit a wide open 50 yard air pass when it’s there over a guy who often just doesn’t pull the trigger or can’t make the throw at all. Again, the point of this thread is, no matter how Bryce finishes the year, competition needs to be brought in and an influx of talent at QB.  I happen to like Shedeur and if he was an option, as a young QB in his rookie contract, to me seems like a good idea if the price is right.
    • Scot, I’ve watched his full games.🤣. Since college.  I’m aware of the perceived weaknesses and flaws.  Yet, we have/had a front office full of paid football professionals who “full game” scouted Bryce Young and thought he was worthy of the #1 overall pick.  We also have a faction of our fanbase that, even when presented with a better option at QB, choose to keep believing in Bryce Young despite the fact that even with his occasional Atlanta games, or how he played against the Rams, he is still the statistically worst starting QB in the NFL since he’s been at the helm. So, it can’t be based off play or scouting.  So what is it based off of?
