Will Gettleman be tempted to draft Gurley @ 25?

Kinda off topic but if we do end up cutting Tolbert to clear more space, both Hynoski and John Conner are going to be available in the FA.  2 really solid FBs.  I don't think having one that can run is a huge plus in a Shula offense but to have a strong blocking one is big.

I 100% agree.  We need a Hoover.  FBs are not expensive but they do so much for the offense.  Pass blocking, run blocking, pass receiver, special teams, etc.  Brockel is a TE coverted to Hback.  Tolbert is limited.

I would love those guys.  With our Guards, a stud FB, and a blocking RT, oh my, this team could go back to the days of ground and pound.  However, with the QB and a few WRs and Olsen, try stopping that with 8 in the box.

Varga is listed as a FB, and I think he will play there, but some of that is because he is white and the media profiles the white running back. Varga would be an all-around player--could play #3 and situational RB, could play FB, would dominate on special teams.  Nick Goings, if you will.  He is a great blocker and very smart--would pick up blitzes very well.  I want him bad enough to mention him in the fourth to fifth rounds. (assuming we don't do what you say--even if we do, I would be elated).

I am not gonna lie, I am thinking that if DGB convinces the guys that matter that he has learned his lesson and is a changed man, I am thinking that he will be our pick. Of course it's all predicated upon him having a good combine. I think that all the sure tackles will be gone, and although I would love to have Gurley and believe that he will be a game -changer in the NFL, I don't believe that his talent will trump DGB's. I am thinking that It will come down to DGB's interviews.

Yeah, DGB is a top 5-10 talent. Don't see G-man passing that up at 25 just because of some character issues over a year ago. I'd rather have Landon Collins or La'El Collins, but DGB is my choice after those two.

I'm with you about the Collins kids being my top 2 choices.

Gordon won't be picked in the first round, and I don't think hes better than Gurley.  He'll become a Jamal Charles type?  Whew, you are reaching, and yeah I have seen him numerous times.  I think Jamal Charles would dominate most competition, but Gordon couldn't dominate Ohio fuging State?  Okay, sir.  OKAY.  Better yet, get over 100 yards vs OHIO fuging STATE?  OHHHHHHHHHHHH K.

you say that like they were some 2nd rate nobody school.  You do realize that they won the national championship, don't you?  and they basically shut down the potential #1 overall pick in the process.

I think we will look to replace (and yes, on paper, it makes sense to cut him) Tolbert. Varga from Yale in the late rounds would be a great fit here.

My youngest son, when he was about 5, said, "I don't know why anyone would buy a cat. All you have to do is put a bowl of food on the porch and one shows up."

I see an undrafted free agent competition here. The draft is deep at RB, so one will fall to us after the draft.

I have read chat about us going after one in free agency. Ha Ha Ha Ha.

Getting a deal with CJ Spiller gives us a return man and a change of pace back, plus makes for dangerous screen plays

    • I think you have to factor in that we're still not an attractive proposition for Head Coaches. You're not getting the cream of the crop if you fire Canales a year after winning the NFC South, especially considering the situation he walked into.
    • Yeah, I was about to say I hope he's doing okay health-wise because he's not looking good in that pic.
    • Honestly, I dont  think he should be on the hot seat yet. A bad start to next year, then yes. Despite our mistakes on play calling this past season, we played better than anticipated overall. Bryce showed improvement and maturity (although still not nowhere close to our expectations). Better record and 2-15 to 5-12 to 8-9. Despite what we feel the stats dont lie we are improving by 3 wins a year. Could 11-6 be our expectation. That's a high bar but at the rate we are going, thats what its looking like. We all want to see a 5-12 to a 13-4 record but we are methodically moving up. Success doesnt happen overnight (well in most cases).  IMO we are struggling mostly on the defensive end. LB and edge are our biggest weakness. I see Bryce making improvements (even though I was a Bryce hater) next year. Biggest concern is LT on offense. How to fix this? We need a big name edge or to trade up and get a big name edge or LB and pick up one in FA and draft one. Also if in the 3rd we can pick up a TE. Dont know if Sanders is the answer or Tremble (even though I love Trembles blocking and power after the catch). If these two can get their footwork together they would be great. Maybe all they need is a better TE coach. And if Brooks can stay healthy and be the back we thought he could be, man that would be great
