Panthers Final Decision On Hardy : No Thanks

You know what also irks me about the whole way that Hardy was handled? If the Panthers really weren't interested in re-signing Hardy, then they may as well had played him. We would have gotten our money's worth as opposed to him getting 13 million dollars for basically nothing. Oh, that's right, it hurt Jerry Richardson's sensibilities and would have caused the team---and more importantly, the shield---irreparable harm. Richardson couldn't be more like the 49ers with Ray McDonald who really had something invested in their player than we had in a player whom we were kicking to the curb anyway.

We could have gotten our money's worth, then kicked Hardy to the curb, but for Richardson acting like a pussy cat as opposed to a Panther.

why didn't they play him?  because roger goodell would have suspended him without pay if we did.  gettleman was open about the fact that discipline from the panthers wasn't on the table in the joint press conference that he gave with ron rivera after hardy was de-activated against detroit.  the exempt list was a favor to hardy but he pissed all over it by barely showing his face in the building which his status allowed him to do.

everything that was coming out of the panthers camp prior to the ray rice video was that they were going to let the legal process play out.  we got caught up in the NFL's scramble for damage control, goodell came down with an ultimatum, and here we are.

Show your work. And a motorcycle accident doesn't count. Most people who ride will eventually get in an accident. And your uncle's friend who rode for 300 years without an accident isn't a proper sample size

Odd you would bring up bikes and bikers.  I had a brother in law who was a biker.  He died riding a Harley -  he wasnt wearing a helmet.  He didnt live long enough to outgrow the stupidity that he had as a youth.

Odds are Hardy wont outgrow his youthful stupidity long enough to make a long term impact in the NFL.  I find it reassuring that the Panthers front office wont take a bet that vegas odd makers wouldnt.

Well, I could be wrong, but if he was suspended, then we would have saved some money. Here is the closest thing that I could find (so far) that speaks to player suspensions.

-First player suspended: No remittance

- Second player suspended: Twenty-five percent of the player's forfeited "paragraph 5" salary up to a maximum of $200,000

-Third player suspended: Thirty-three percent of the player's forfeited "paragraph 5" salary up to a maximum of $350,000

-Fourth player suspended and above: Fifty percent of the player's forfeited "paragraph 5" salary up to a maximum of $500,000

Carolina will be fine without Hardy!! Let the dead horse lie.. Can this be the last damn Hardy thread.. He fug'd up.. the defense was fine without him..its the offense that needed help!! Gee's.. ..I hate the guy now cause of all the damn threads..He is not coming back to Carolina like Peppers, Smith, Gamble, Delhomme, Weinke (coaching St louis).. and probably not Ginn.. why are  people concentrated on re-treads?? if the head wasn't great the first time... probably won't be better the next time!! Move on!!

I would bet that your brother in law didnt die on his own, most likely it was another person on the road that killed him.

very few teams let Pro Bowl players leave ... and the ones that do remain on the bottom, and they cant figure out why.

The team that won the Super Bowl this year traded away a pro bowler at the start of the season.

Likewise, teams like the Steelers have let plenty of big name free agents walk.

If you build well, you can afford to be picky.

The notion that dumping Hardy dooms us to mediocrity is just unfounded.

and this is the reason we have about the same winning success as the Jags. Its so bad that our fans are conditioned for this and think somehow we are better off without a top 5 DE on the team.

    • LOL... Yet again proving you can't look below anything than what you see on the surface Mock drafts ARE NOT draft grades They are what people think will happen.  They are mocking teams taking QB's in the top 5 of the draft because that's just historically how drafts go regardless of the grades on the QBs.  Almost every draft expert, even those mocking QB's going high, have said time and time again that none of these QB's actually grade out as those type of picks. This is again, where I say you don't like to actually read what I have to say, because I already explained it. 2022 the exact same thing happened, mock drafts had guys like Pickett and Willis going in the Top 5 because that's just what teams usually do, but GM's listened to their prospect grades and knew they weren't worth taking that high, so they didn't. It's not to say QB's won't go that high this year, but it's to say that they aren't graded out as elite QB prospects.  Mock drafts
    • Have you seen the mock drafts lately?   Most of them have us taking a QB. Just because you aren't high on these QBs doesn't mean the Panthers or other teams aren't.   If you want me to be real I just think you a Tmac homer and all you care about is us drafting him. It's why you get so defensive when people mention other prospects.   Be open to other people's ideas. Nobody in this thread is saying anything bad about your boy Tmac.
    • Oh good lord Interest doesn't mean interest in making a bad trade to take the player, that's why I had such a long post, to accurately describe why those are two different things, but you don't like to listen to that stuff.  Being interested in a player doesn't live in a vacuum. It's very simple... there isn't a #1 draft pick type of grade on any of these QB's, if there was, we'd just take them.  You can't bluff a pick everyone knows you won't make, and trying to trade the pick is the CLEAR signal that you're not taking the QB. Just because the Raiders would have interest, doesn't mean they're going to bail us out of a situation we don't want to be in, they'd be smart about it and just sit put, let us take a non QB as we'd be telling the world we're not taking one just by trying to trade the pick, and then they'd take him at #2 (either with their own pick or by trading less to get that one). Oh, and your point of "if nobody is willing to make the trade, you obviously just take the best QB" is quite literally the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. If nobody is willing to trade up to take the QB, then it's OBVIOUS that the QB isn't worth taking with that pick, so OBVIOUSLY taking the best QB there is just OBVIOUSLY stupid and a bad pick. The moral of it is if there is a QB worth taking, we're taking them and not making the trade.  If there isn't a QB worth taking there, nobody is trading up to #1 to take one, we just showed the NFL how bad of an idea that is 2 years ago, it's really not hard to see. You keep making up this mythical situation where there is a QB who has shown to be worth trading up to #1 for and we'll be able to leverage that into a trade.  But we're the most QB needy team in the league, if we end up with the #1 pick, either we are taking a QB #1 or no QB is going #1 unless we get VERY lucky and two teams in the Top 5 fall in love with one prospect and we can play them off each other and fleece one of them. But again, I can't see that happening, as if there was a QB worthy of that, we're just taking him ourselves.
