Your Top 5 (realistically) at 25: Pre Free-Agency

Recommended Posts

It's simple. Post 5 players you would be okay with the Panthers drafting with the 25th overall selection. You can order the list by preference if you would like, but it isn't necessary. Lets try to keep it as realistic as possible. Amari Cooper won't be on the board.

If I'm Dave G:

Jaelen Strong

DJ Humphries

Jake Fisher

Ereck Flowers

La'El Collins

Others in contention: Bud Dupree, Landon Collins, Jalen Collins, Kevin Johnson, Breshad Perriman (hurt during combine, will test like a freak during pro day), Owamagbe Ohdighizuwa

Your top 5 is my top 5 as well.  Strong is my preference and no particular order for the rest.

Kevin Johnson, Jalen Collins, and Odi aren't far behind however.  Same with Phillips at DT as crazy as that sounds.

For me as of now, if we go WR, it's Strong at 25 (if he's still there). After that, I think we'd be reaching and I'm fine going WR after the 1st.

OT, the same guys you listed. Personally I don't think Fisher would be much of a reach at 25, but if any of the top guys are there, we snag them. In the event Strong or one of the OT prospects like Fisher/Peat/Collins/Flowers/Humphries isn't there, go defense with a DE, Shaq, or secondary help.

Not being too much of a reach is still being a reach. We don't reach around these parts.

I don't think anyone would disagree with that.  It's just very subjective right now which guys constitute a reach or not.

Just gotta try and predict what DG's board may look and who is for sure gone by 25 to get the best idea.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
