I'll be spending about a week in Orlando in August for a wedding and looking into visits to Disney and Universal.

 

 

It'll be an adults trip, no kids. Looking for any advice from folks that have been recently or are in the know. I am leaning towards a two day pass to each park, or two days at Disney and one at Universal.

 

 

Any advice welcomed, or any other things I should check out in Orlando.

Orlando can be brutally hot/humid in August....might want to consider water parks if you are into them or at least the parks that have some water rides mixed in.  

 

The Magic Kingdom is more kids based. I would say unless you are a big Disney fan or have never been there, I would look more towards the Universal side of things since it is all adults.

Agree about the hot thing, but disagree about the US.

 

I would much prefer Disney, but either way, make sure you are getting the option to go to the water parks.

Pay the extra money to get to the front of every line. Its completely worth it. One ride was an hour wait in the full sun. We got on in less than 5 minutes. Was worth the money within 10 minutes of entering.

And be sure to eat at Mythos while you're there.  It is routinely voted the best theme park restaurant in the world. I mean, the competition is a bunch of burger joints and the chicken nugget platter at "Pelican Paul's" but still, the food is outstanding, and beats the hell out of any other amusement park fare.  It's also amazingly beautiful inside.

Yeah I was thinking that'll be the way to go.  Will definitely do that now.

I can't speak for Universal as I haven't been there, but my wife and I had a blast when we took our kids to Disney World.  Rockin Rollercoaster at Hollywood studios, Test Track at Epcot and Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom were all awesome.

 

However, I will not go back in the middle of August.  It was blistering...definitely hit a water park.  Blizzard Beach was a lot of fun.

This is what I did when I went last year.  I think it was like an extra $75 for the pass, but I'll never go without a pass again.  The amount of rides that you get to ride throughout the day is worth it.  I think the longest we waited was 20 minutes for the new Transformer ride.  To put it in perspective, the wait for the general public was 140 minutes.

Yep, there is no way in hell we would do it without those passes now.

      Facts it's still crazy that they made him sell over that especially considering what some of the other owners have done.  JR was a rich 80 year old white man from the south I'm not at all surprised about him making some "inappropriate" comments about what a woman is wearing water is wet what a surprise. That's just the way things were done during his time, and he should and did get punished for his actions by paying some hefty fines, but it definitely wasn't something that he should've been forced to sell his team over.  I'll never forget him insulting Peyton Manning during a negotiation, reportedly belittling the quarterback’s knowledge of player safety and asking, “Do I need to help you read a revenue chart, son?

      Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
