If Stewart maintains that same pace over the next 16 games, he'll have a 1,552 yard season

Both Trai Turner and Andrew Norwell will be even better with a year of NFL adjustment and training under their belts

on top of that, we just added 3 new guys that played RT over the last couple years in Oher, Martin, and our draft pick William....and we still have Remmers

Thats gives us 4 RTs to compete to bookend each side of our OL and open up an even more powerful running attack then we had over the last 7 games. Heck, Stewart might run for 1,750!

But, toning the expectations down because we'll rotate other backs to keep Stewart fresh, and because Stewart might miss a game or two to injuries, it still seems likes its realistic that we can allow ourselves to get a little excited about the thought of an incoming 1,000-yard season for J Stew

For the first time, Jonathan Stewart enters the season as the

Panthers' feature back.

"Stewart is pretty darn good. Since 2008, there are 21 running backs with at least 1,000 carries, and Stewart has the 5th highest YPC (4.63) in that group. While he’s not a prolific pass catcher (130 catches in 90 games), his catch percentage is a solid 72.6%, which is better than both Arian Foster and Jamaal Charles. Stewart just turned 28, and is still in his prime."

"This season will be the first since Stewart was drafted that he hasn’t been in the shadow of DeAngelo Williams. Carolina released its all-time leading rusher in February, leaving Stewart as the unquestioned No. 1 back heading into the 2015 season.

Stewart’s number was called late last season when Williams suffered a fractured hand. Stewart responded by rushing for 401 yards on 79 carries in the month of December, more than any player other than Dallas' DeMarco Murray, who had 418. Stewart added 123 yards in the home playoff win against Arizona.

He looked like the back that in 2009 rushed for 1,133 yards and 10 touchdowns. But even that season Williams was the starter for 13 games, rushing for 1,117 yards. Williams and Stewart were dubbed "Double Trouble" that year, but it always was clear Stewart was the second half of double.

This is the first off season he has had in a few years where he's been able train while healthy so he should come in in great shape.  Stew/Fozzy/Tolbert/Artis-Payne should be a nice rotation.  Gonna have Vic Beasley backing up like a scared bitch when we run at him.

A healthy Stew is a top 5 back in the NFL IMO... he's been better than Deangelo since 2011.  He's just also been injured damn near constantly since after that 2011 season.

 

Pass protection, pass catching, vision, power, speed, decision-making, explosiveness, legs that keep churning, he's got everything you want for a running back... except for the ability to stay healthy.

 

I'm feeling like this year will be his year.

      if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying

      So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
