Quick takes on Oher

Mr. Scot

All I was saying, for the whiners here, was that Rivera really didn't say much.  "He has been here to the facility every day".

Well, so has the janitor.

Tell me something about his feet and his quickness and something we can hang our hat and hope on.  That is all I was wanting.  Not just a general statement.

Don't need him to be an All-Pro, just better than Byron fuggin' Bell

Even if he didn't have toe surgery, he'd be better than Byron fuggin' Bell

Even if he's rated the 2nd worst lineman by PFF, he'll still be 1 spot ahead of Byron fuggin' Bell and that's an improvement

Still optimistic our line will be strong at the other 4 spots and if needed Oher can get help from RBs and TEs chip blocking.

No. I hate mediocre guys that y'all act like they're HOFs: LaFail, Bersin, etc.

I don't hate on guys who can actually play. Oher can play.

What are you good enough at to not hate on?

He hasn't practiced yet. Rivera is commenting on what he can comment on.

Just imagine, if the Panthers can get even slightly below average play out of our OTs all year, we'll be better off than last year!

That is actually what I think.  I mean, we started off pretty poorly last year, ended up replacing Chandler with Remmers, who played VERY well for us.  Oher, for all the baggage he has, was drafted in the first round for a reason.  He still has tools and abilities, hopefully our OL coach (and his old buddy) can help him have a bit of a career renaissance in 2015.

IF (very big if) we can get that kind of play, then we should be much more productive this year from last!

I've got no problem with us giving Oher a shot and hope he works out but Ron has already proven to be a very poor judge of offensive line talent so I don't really care what he has to say about him at this point.  I'll believe it when I see it with my own eyes.

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
    • Burns at 5-6 seems....a little aggressive.
