Jameis Winston: "An Embarrassment"

Anybodyhome

Winston thrived in a system that tolerates repeated instances of poor behavior as long as an individual has the talent to win football games on Friday and Saturday.

It says more about our society's misplaced priorities than it does JW.

So he should be kicked out because of an accusation?

So he should be kicked out because of an accusation?

FSU treated Winston as an entitled athlete, which he was, so did the local community.

Who is to blame a young man for taking full advantage of that entitlement as big man on campus?

Winston is a symptom of a larger problem in high school, college and pro athletics.

The problem is the "adults" charged with overseeing his education and extracurricular activities.

These adults are too quick to look the other way in pursuit of winning a game.

Anything from his past is fair game since he's now a division rival. It's that simple. His achievements need to be mocked and minimized and his mistakes magnified and blown way out of proportion because of the team uniform he wears now.

Yeah, who wasn't arrested for theft and investigated for rape during college? Leave that poor child alone!

I'm sorry. I didnt know being arrested for anything was supposed to follow you for the rest of your life. Is it time to bring up the laptops again?

1.) It was what, 2 years ago? Hardly "the rest of your life."

2.) lying to police in a rape investigation isn't just whacky kids' stuff and is way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>being in possession of a stolen laptop.

    • I think Indiana will win it all but Miami should give them a much better fight than Oregon did.
    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
