DeMarco Murray vs his old O-Line

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

You know how some running backs like to give a lot of credit to their offensive line?

DeMarco Murray has other ideas right now.

For those who believe that running back DeMarco

 Murray

’s success with the Cowboys last season was largely because of their excellent offensive line, that possibility will be reason to think Murray will be less productive this season. Murray doesn’t share that opinion nor the one that says that his 2014 output should be credited to running behind a strong line anymore than the work of backs like Emmitt Smith should be discounted because of their blockers.

“I think Barry Sanders is the only one who didn’t have a great O-line. Emmitt Smith, Terrell Davis, all these guys had great lines,” Murray said, via USA Today. “It’s a little comedic to me. Every successful running back usually has a couple good offensive linemen. Those guys were great, I’ve got a lot of respect for those guys. This group here, they’ve got some Pro Bowlers and great players.”

Comedic?

Really?

I think is is saying that he does give credit to the o-line but they wasn't the only sole reason he had a good year. I could be wrong though. He talked about some of the greats having good lines too

Agree to a point. He's also comparing himself to some pretty great running backs.

This may indeed be one of those cases where what he meant to say came out rather poorly. But either way. I suspect his old teammates probably won't appreciate it much.

He obviously just meant that its comedic to say he only had a good year because of his oline.  Im sure plenty of people like to question whether or not he was as good as his numbers suggested he was last year..Im sure thats why he made those comments.  Wake up people..You hate it when the media twists things about us..Your reaction to stories like this is exactly why they do it..

All honesty, I'm targeting mcfadden in fantasy football.  I hate the cowgirls, but that o-line is amazing.  On the flip side, I'm avoiding Murray like the plague, guys who are asked to run as many times as he did tend to break down the next season (Larry Johnson, Jamal Lewis, and Jamal Anderson come to mind).

Joseph Randle is the Cowboys running you really want.

he needs to stay healthy first. if he does, he could have a big year.

It's comedic that people here are actually even taking this bait smh.  I read it and got highly annoyed at the misleading headline.

    • As I've said numerous times the last few days, having Thielen on the field has literally 0% to do with my views on this (I've even said I think Renfrow is going to take a ton of snaps from Thielen anyways).  He has more value to this team without playing a single snap than a 2026 5th round draft pick does for the franchise.   His value is helping set up T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Horn for long term success by helping them learn how to be pros, how to go about their business, how to train, how to do all the little things that helped turn Thielen from a D2 undrafted player into a borderline Vikings legend.
    • He only wants to be traded because it's the Vikings who are calling. If he didn't want to be here, he could have retired, instead he took a pay raise to come back for another season.  I get it, it's an opportunity that he'd like to take, but we shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face because he now wants to jump at this opportunity less than two weeks before the season starts. I'm not against trading him, I'm just against trading him for a return that doesn't help our team as much as having him on the roster would.  I'll put it this way, if a 5th is the best we can get for him from the Vikings and he's now dug in on not wanting to stay this year, I'm saying screw you and trading him to any of the other 30 teams besides the Vikings for the best offer we can get. He was perfectly happy here a week ago, if the Vikings soured him on that and then want to get him for peanuts, then screw them both.
    • Yes and no, he wants to go back and his wife most definitely wants to go back. He took a bunch of team mates to Minny and has worked out with JJ two offseasons in a row. It's where both him and his wife are from.    The money was basically a please come back and help Bryce. Pretty please...here's some more money.    Now he's agreed to a paycut to go back to the Vikings.
