Martin Wallace ... step right up?

During mini camps, Martin Wallace (6'6, 330. Temple) earned some snaps at left tackle, jumping ahead of Foucault on the depth chart.

While I am not sure this makes him the automatic backup to Michael Oher, it may buy Gettleman time to wait for cuts from other teams before signing another tackle. There are reasons some guys are currently employed, and some are not. It may be wise to wait for those first cuts when serviceable veterans are released early out of respect.

Don't the crew have a policy now? That's how they found norwell, test players with starters/2s to see the results. I believe even Ron said something among the lines if not for giving norwell the opportunity, he wouldnt be on the 53.

Panthers did invest time in him, so they must see something. Arimti should be given a shot too, cause I know he's not a starting OG. Utility type is need, better than Nate chandler.

I just wish we took LT more seriously.

the last two years in FA have been pretty lame as far as left tackles go.  in 2014's FA about the only two that ended up playing above the value of the contracts they signed were donald penn and jared veldheer.  veldheer's cap figure goes way up this year and penn was a desperation signing that little was expected of after the raiders bungled roger saffold's physical.  the others were either major busts (collins) or got paid way above what we could have hoped to offer (branden albert).

dunlap and bulaga were the two "name" players that were re-signed by their respective teams before they could even really test the market this year.  joe barksdale signed for pretty cheap but he's more of a right tackle.  that position is just so highly valued now that it's difficult to just find one in free agency if you have cap problems.

why the panthers haven't done this when 31 other teams have done it so easily themselves is one of the great mysteries of our time

Think he's talking about Collins.

And on that note, all 31 other teams didn't draft him even as late as the 7th round so clearly no team wanted to risk it. He chose the Cowboys over us; there are no indications that we didn't pursue him.

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27

    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
