He played pretty well end of the year in "real " games.  I see him as a rotational player at this point.  However who knows how it will turn out.  Players who can play both end and DT are held in high regards.

He was getting pancaked in the late 3rd/early 4th, on top of his repeated fug ups in the first half.  Horrible showing.

seemed to me like he got some decent pressures. keep in mind our starting probowl-caliber defensive tackles were absent the entire game, which allows the offensive line a whole lot more flexibility to negate whatever he brings to the table.

The jury is still out on Ealy. He appeared to me as a little sluggish, as he let Taylor pretty much run away from him every time.  He showed enough promise his rookie year to at least give him a prayer for judgment for 2015.  it's only the first frickin preseason game.

Checked ESPN for stats and saw he didn't have a stat line at all. Pretty disappointing if he played as much as I've read that he did.

Not every DE can chase down a player like that. Im most concerned that no one could seal the edge tonight. Thats a big concern to me that needs to improve.

He was horrible. Makes me think we should go DE in next year's first round draft. I'm more concerned with the DL than the OL at this point of training camp.  We are tip toeing a fine line as of right now with the injuries.

Relax guys. I remember Hardy stinking up the joint during preseason a couple years ago too.

 

... Hardy was a sixth round pick. No comparison there. Ealy gets more flak because of his draft position more than anything.

 

You guys have to remember; Defensive linemen don't flourish in their first two seasons right away. Unless they are just freaks of nature.  Ealy was playing without the starting line up. This is his second year so I don't expect a huge impact from him. Still, it's his second year and first preseason game. I ain't worried.

The thing about Ealy is he has no consistency. He's shown flashes of greatness and then had terrible showings like tonight. It's all a part of players' development, and he's no different. I'm not by any means expecting him to turn into a Hardy but I'm confident he'll be able to contribute to our team meaningfully at some point.
