Instead of becoming more run heavy, just become Saints/Pats.

Yes the Saints suck now, I'm talking pre suck era. Both the Saints and Patriots pretty much have the same strategy.. Gronkowski and Graham are the main event while the other WRs are there to move the chains from time to time and keep the defense honest. between the Saints and Patriots, Colston is the only WR closest to a "true no 1 WR"

A lot of people say we now need to rely on the run game more than ever, but I say the opposite. Let this become the Cam/Olsen show and use the WRs as role players to keep the D honest.

The Saints and Patriots have pretty much never had a run game and used this strategy and it has worked well for them (up until recently anyway for the Saints)

Cam is not accurate enough of a passer to run that style of offense.

And......you don't just scrap your offense near the end of training camp and try to install a completely different offensive scheme.  That is idiocy.

This thread is lunacy....even for PanthersUnited.

What is wrong with you people and this silly obsession with pass first offenses? We were being built for a run first and pass off play action offense to begin with. Nothing has changed. We still have the personnel to run this offense. This is what Shula is actually the best at doing and where he feels the most comfortable. Last year our O line was a train wreck. However if you look at the  year before 2013 we had one of the most efficient offenses and controlled the clock which in turn tired opposing teams defenses. THIS IS GREAT FOOTBALL. This is how championships are won. Nothing is more demoralizing that being ran all over and then once you try to commit to stop the gouging to get burned deep on a PA. It will cause DC's to pull their hair out because it's nearly impossible to stop. Keeps your Defense fresh and theirs fatigued. If we can do that and stay positive in the turn over battle good luck beating us. All you really need is a good solid possession receiver which we still have and some speedy/shifty guys to blow off the top. Guess what. We still have that too. Stop with all the doom and gloom. When we start losing linemen is when you need to start worrying. The biggest most important thing we need for a sustainable offense is your O line and for your QB to be smart with the football. End of story.

People need to stop jumping off the damn ledge holy pooh.

But, but but....when I play Madden, I throw the ball 200 times a game and I win.

Let's get a few things straight:

The Saints offense doesn't suck. Not sure what numbers you're looking at, but as far as I can tell, they're still one of the top offenses in football.

The Saints have been their best in the Sean Payton era when they have a good running game.

Cam Newton is not a quarterback you want in a ball control, west coast style offense. I like Cam, but that doesn't play to his strengths

This really isn't as absurd as the legions of turds who are gleeful at the thought of another 7-9   cloud on the ground season would have you believe.

yes, Cam's strengths are as a deep passer, but we have yet to even see him perform in a quick, timing offense, that quite frankly, could've done us a lot of good in recent years with WRs that were incapable of getting open and OL that were incapable of blocking long enough to accommodate the longer routes said WRs were running.

Our run attack has already incorporated many elements of the spread, and getting Cam out and moving behind the LOS would've been a welcome change from the archaic Shula butchered Coryell  that has had him sitting there as a human target for the blindside DE for 4-5 seconds while Legedu Naanee and Brandon Lafell jogged downfield.
