No claims on cuts

Great, so White and Wallace are on IR now. Glad White's Panther career isn't over quite yet, and Wallace is an intriguing prospect for backup OT depth. And I'm shocked Boykin wasn't picked up after reading around here how great he is.

I guess Boykin wasn't the player I thought he could be. Fiqured Green Bay would scoop him back up now that they have injury issues. They know him much better then we did. Obviously they passed on him. Coaches where correct on this call it seems.

I find this funny since it's coming from the guy who preached all year how Corey Brown was the second coming of Jesus.

No one was saying how great Boykin was, most were saying he deserved a spot over Bersin. Boykin going unclaimed shouldn't shock anyone, Bersin would go unclaimed as well.

That's a huge over exaggeration. I never said he'd be anything more than a solid #3 behind KB and Funchess, and I still stand by that. Unfortunately with those injuries he's being forced into a starting role that he shouldn't be in. I have said it's possible he'll be our biggest WR threat this year now with KB out and I still stand by that. Preseason games hold absolutely no weight when evaluating a player's performance. Come talk to me during or after the regular season, and we'll see how he looks compared to what I've said about him.

Nearly everybody here wanted him to see time with the 1s and wanted to see Brown and Bersin cut, and after the last preseason game people here were making predictions that Boykin would wind up as our starter across from Funchess. That's hardly just "saying he deserved a spot over Bersin." After he was waived many were sure he'd be claimed by the Packers or another team.

I think "nearly everybody ... wanted to see Brown ... cut" is an exaggeration.  There were a few people that said some such foolishness, but Bersin is the one most want cut and believe Boykin is a better option than.  Brown is salvageable and still a project.  Bersin was once a pet project, and is now just a failed project.

Hundreds of players got cut and every one picked up by another team means another chop. No surprise that few are being grabbed.

Failed project my ass. He catches the ball (better than Boykin did) and can line up at different positions. I doubt they come up with anyone to take his spot this season.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
