The teams that "won Free Agency" are a combined 1-5.

Meanwhile, the Panthers were viewed as being "losers" in FA are 2-0. To be perfectly honest, the last few years I was always pounding the table so to speak for us to be FA players however seeing how throwing money at players and hoping it works might not be the most prudent way of building a team. I know, accuse me of being a flip flopper or "worse than a woman." I am confident enough to admit that I change my stances when I see certain things just dont work, so sue me for changing my stance when circumstances change.

Anyway.. The Dolphins, Colts and Eagles are the three most active teams in FA and they are a combined 1-5. Meanwhile, the Panthers got bashed by the media for only adding Oher, Ginn and other team's cast offs yet we are 2-0.

So what are your thoughts on why adding big FAs just never works in the NFL? I have always been fascinated why year after year teams throw money around at big time guys and almost without fail every season they end up disappointing in a big way..

Oh and #Gettlemagic

I love watching the piewhore users that flock into a PU thread to post the first witty one liner-diss.

You don't see it as comic relief against the relentless threads?

I view it as a challenge. I used to stick up for him. Then it became monotonous. Now I view the comedy as relief from the monotony.

But you can view it however you like.

This is actually a decent thread by PU and I don't understand why people are responding like its one of his typical shitty threadsd. Since people derailed this thread completely with bullshit comments, I will try to get it back on tracks.

Some teams try to be flashy and rely too heavily on one or 2 flashy players. That rarely works out. The  panthers believe in having solid depth at each position and winning as a team. Still have a ways to go in some positions but can't fill every need in one year.

    • Why would we not be contenders? As long as Bryce plays like he did when he came back, we absolutely can be contenders...that is...   if the defense plays better... which is why adding someone like Ramsey when we have a QB on a rookie deal and can afford it makes sense IMO. No one thought of the Commanders being contenders last year or the Texans the year before and so on and so forth. Top-end QB play, especially for a guy on a rookie deal, changes everything in terms of timelines. Regardless of what this board thinks, I hope the front office is willing to he aggressive in thks window we currently have with a rookie QB deal
    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
