referee assignment for week 4

Captain Obvious

Recommended Posts

In light of Cam V referees last week I looked for the referee assigned to us this weekend. I found it here. http://www.footballzebras.com/2015/09/29/13190/

Its Gene Steratore,

Interestingly in the comments I found this:

After 3 below average games, can Gene Steratore and his crew receive just passing grades? The overall performance of the NFL Referees have been poor thru 3 weeks. Penalty after penalty after penalty after penalty. Too bad someone can’t throw a flag on them.

At the top of the incompetent list….Gene Steratore and Terry Mcaulay.

also:

Steratore’s crew is old, save Dino and Gary Arthur (now on DL). Waggoner can’t even walk without a limp.

for a lol

Bortles probably not “old enough” to get the calls from Hochuli either

Every NFL player & coach should donate to Cam's favorite charity because what Cam did/said this & last week have put the refs on notice. They have all been so bad so far this season & no one has had the kohonahs to call them out. But now every play-by-play announcer & color commentator will be paying closer attention to the refs.

How are the refs throwing lots of flags through the first 3 weeks a sign of their incompetence?  Judging by the quality of play the first 3 weeks, I would say most of the issue is with the players (plus the fact that the NFLPA pushed so hard to get rid of padded practices).

Except for when the players didn't actually do anything but flags are thrown anyway. I'm from the "refs are human too and will make mistakes" school of thought and am probably more understanding than many NFL fans, but a handful of questionable penalties game in and game out is a bit much.

    • Irony yes you could say that as long as there is no intent to claim that because he left we all of a sudden got so bad we are losing all the time. Which it seems like you might be trying to imply.  Did we lose something? Yes we did. Was it worth 5 years at 28 mil per? Not to my thinking.

    • First: What do you think the word ‘scapegoating’ means? Because what I said was not scapegoating.  They are two different players playing two different roles.  I simply said two things about Burns, if I recall. One, basically he is a one dimensional player that is doing well because they have a very strong front in NY.  Two, I was against paying his price because he is a liability against the run. One dimensional and therefore not worth it.  Summing it up: he e is a pass rush specialist, about all I have ever felt about him, and his financial demands made him much less of a value.  IMO.
