The NFL is dumb to make illegal activities punishable within NFL rules?

You do know that marijuana is illegal in well over 90% of states and 100% illegal under federal law, right?

So please do explain how it is "dumb" to hold your employees responsible to obey the laws it is incumbent for everyone else to obey.

Well did you know It's illegal in every state to decleat folks walking down the street on their way to Starbucks.

It is. Yet the NFL gets away with it.

Double standard

Feel bad for the guy in terms of someone who is obviously struggling with a substance abuse problem, but there really is no excuse.  Frank knew he was going to be tested and what the consequences would be and still did it.

It was going to be hard enough for him to recover from his Achilles injury to even continue an NFL career and then this.  The fact the Panthers waived/injured him at the end of TC let's you know they weren't sold on him being here long-term regardless, and this solidifies it.  He reverted to their IR and will stay there through the end of the year, but I would say the chances of him being on any NFL roster in 2017 at less than 1%, and it certainly won't be the Panthers.

I've been told on here that marijuana is not addictive.  So, how can you really have a drug "problem" with pot?

sounds more like a "stupid" problem to me.

People can be addicted to just about anything.

Not going to comment on Frank's intelligence having never met him nor heard him say much, but from what I've heard, NFL drug testing isn't so much a drug test as it is an IQ test.

meaning, the players have a pretty good idea when they are going to be tested, and plenty of players in the league smoke weed without ever being busted

Guy always showing his mom and two daughters and family on twitter, how much he cherishes them etc. Providing for his family with the millions to be made in the NFL would be the thing to do, not flushing it all down the drain. Talk is cheap Frank, you blew it.
