Great vets have a way of turning back the clock on father time when it comes to the playoffs.

I ain't as good as I once was,
My how the years have flown,
But there was a time,
Back in my prime,
When I could really hold my own,
But if you want a fight tonight,
Guess those boys don't look all that tough,
I ain't as good once was,
But I'm as good once, as I ever was.

I used to be hell on wheels,
Back when I was a younger man
Now my body says "Oh, You can't do this boy",
But my pride says "Oh yes you can"

I ain't as good as I once was,
That's just the cold, hard truth,(huh)
I still throw a few back,
Talk a little smack,
When I'm feeling bullet proof,
So don't double, dog dare me now,
Cause I'd have to call your bluff,
I ain't as good as I once once was,
But I'm as good once, as I ever was.

May not be good as I once was,
But I'm as good once, as I ever was

You mean one of them is about to go all Larry Fitzgerald on dem?

If I could pick it would be Allen. No disrespect to CJ

Who on ESPN said this? it's basically topical sports analyst speach, for those that have watched the Panthers all season have seen that CJ, and Allen havent done much all year, but we safely managed to be 6th in sacks this season.

BTW if you think we have had problems getting a pass rush this season Seattle is tied for 17th in Sacks.

Wilson is not the type of QB that CJ does well against. He just needs to keep containment.  Addison or Delaire on the other hand are fast enough but I think the key is KK if he goes off Wilson can't handle psi in his face.

Pretty sure delaire is inactive unfortunately

Sorry, you need seasoned veteran DEs who are disciplined and can contain. The fact they have seen everything makes them better in patience and discipline.

The presssure/pass rush to defeat Russell Wilson comes from the DTs eating up the pocket and giving little to no lanes up the middle. The pressure on Russell Wilson is the responsibility of KK and Star. Then you mix in the double A gap blitz of Kuechly and Davis.

That is what needs to succeed at getting hits on Russell Wilson. Wilson hates to be hit and it does rattle his game. DEs push him up into the middle, and then KK/Star/Kuechly/Davis must finish him off.

Meanwhile the CBs need to be ready to fall back toward the sidelines 5-10 yards past the first down marker when Wilson scrambles out of the pocket. He always lobs it to a spot and not a receiver after he checks the seams on the run to the sideline. That means the safeties need to be ready to drop deep into the seams 3 seconds after Wilson has been in the pocket as he will lob the ball up to a spot deep over the heads of the safeties. The LBs need to keep their head on a swivel and not watch Wilson if they are responsible for underneath coverage as one receiver will work their way back to the gap underneath left open by the LBs while Wilson scrambles. Find the receiver coming from behind the backers when Wilson breaks the pocket.

Opposing QBs rarely  have a clean pocket to throw from.

I know, it's all about sacks to most people. Fact remains that they are busting ass, and forcing qbs to move around.

Would it be great if they were sacking qbs like crazy? Absolutely.

Fact is, we wouldn't be leading the league in take aways if it weren't for our pass rush.

We have the ideal ends for Wilson to scramble around with for too long of a period.

Seattle has struggled with good DT play all year.  We need Ealy, Horton, etc mixed in a fair amount to chase down Wilson when our DTs force he scramble.  Allen and CJ can't close on him and Wilson simply won't stay in the pocket

Who is Horton?
