Bucky Brooks: Five part plan for Broncos to beat Panthers

1. Make Cam Newton win from the pocket - because he struggles there
2. Keep the ball in front of the defense - don't allow big passing plays
3. Convince Peyton Manning to be a true game manager - keep score low with long drives
4. Use C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Tillman early and often - run the ball a lot
5. Win the turnover battle - because losing the turnover battle is bad

Apparently next week there will be a similar article from the Panthers perspective.

The fact that we have the best run game AND the #1 scoring offense forces these prognosticators to speak out of both sides of their mouths.  Not only could we win a shoot out, but let's say Denver takes away the deep ball...we can win a 17-10 game too.  This team literally defies all logic when it comes to your typical football analysis. I love it!

1. Well that sounds simple, good thing the other 17 teams we've played didn't do that. And Cam and his 35 TDs from the pocket definitely struggles there.

2. This sounds a bit like a non sequitur. But don't allow big passing plays, good advice there Bucky.

3. This is actually decent advice. I don't think the Broncos have the personnel on offense to do this though.

4. This sort of dovetails into Point 3. I don't think these running backs and their offensive line will be able to do this though.

5. Win the turnover battle: Sounds easy enough, Bucky earning his keep with insightful commentary there!

Honest Opinion.  Our Offense will struggle if they can contain / pressure Cam with just 4 or 5 guys.

Cams worst games ( lol not this year)  have come when pressure and contain were one and the same.   If you get pressure but no contain you're screwed.

    • So we cut him if we don't give him the option?  I'm pretty sure there are players who didn't get the 5th-year option that played year four of their rookie contracts with their draft team.
    • I didn't say do nothing if we don't draft one in the 1st and I"m not counting on a FA to magically become a franchise QB. But signing a FA to be our starter for the year and then re-address the next offseason would be FAR better than reaching on the wrong QB in the 1st this offseason. Feeling we HAVE to find our long term solution just because we need a new QB is how we got into this mess.  We thought Two Gloves would be at worst an average level QB for a few years, that didn't happen, so we went out and traded for Darnold.  That didn't work so we went out and traded for Baker, that didn't work so we went out and traded up to get Bryce. Our last 4 QB moves were all trying to force a solution, none of them worked out, and we're still trying to find Cam's replacement all these years later.  We'd just have been better off spending a year or two building up the rest of the team and going year to year on FA QB's while doing so.  I get it, it will be frustrating to deal with, but then when you find that actual long term solution, they plug right into an already built out roster and you're ready to contend immediately.
    • Great win, should be 3-0 but I'll take 2-1. LaMelo is an MVP caliber player, period.   This is looking like an incredible draft so far. Sion James looking like the exact type of role player that all contending teams need to have, absolute steal in the 2nd. Kalk is a work in progress and I question how much upside he has but he's already been a considerable upgrade at C for us compared to the last several years (outside of healthy Mark which of course was rare).   Really seems like new ownership/front office has change the culture here significantly. Every guy looks bought in now.
