Kawann Short, coming off a pro bowl season, took some time after practice today to talk to the media. 

First, he spoke a little on rookie defensive tackle Vernon Butler and his first impressions. Then he spoke on his contract status with the Panthers. 

Short has high praise for Butler and seems to have a healthy outlook on his contract status. See for yourself....

Hope to see Short retained, but if it means a Suh contract we just can't do that. I'd rather see him elsewhere than see us give a DT that type of hamstringing money. My concern is that if we don't get him locked up this offseason and he has another double digit sack season, someone will be willing to give him Suh money. Then again, Gettleman values DT >>>>> CB and might be willing to keep Short with the tag. 

Meh, all things considered, way too early to worry about that stuff yet, but it's May and ain't a damn thing else to talk about.

Now compare KK talking about his contract, to Luke, Cam, TD, and Olsen.  Pretty similar.

      Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.

      I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
