Kawann Short’s breakthrough 2015 season included 11 sacks, a Pro Bowl nomination and now an appearance on NFL Network's annual "Top 100" list.

The disruptive defensive tackle checks in at No. 58, joining center Ryan Kalil (No. 79) and running back Jonathan Stewart (No. 86) on the list voted on by players across the league.

Reasonable, though another year like last will prove that he deserves to be higher. Guy would be nosing into 'consistently elite' territory.

Starting in the opener.  KK deserves what he's about to get, but while our D played great overall, KK did nothing to have his name called on the biggest stage.  If there's even the slightest hair of silver lining from that chitty California night, maybe it's that it can it can be used in this contract negotiation and further used as motivation.

My question is do you guys think KK is going to make more money on a per year basis than Kuechly?

KK will break the bank. He will do the same song and dance as Norman, and Gettleman will low ball him. The question is will Gettleman remove the franchise tag again when KK threatens to hold out while his agent shops around for offers?

When KK signs this summer with little drama, I hope many Huddlers will wave this in your face.

1) KK and Josh are two totally different men.

2) KK's comments about his contract process are completely calm and professional.

3) They play different positions, one of which Gettleman values highly, the other of which he views as less important in our scheme.

There is absolutely no evidence at this point to think that a contract won't be signed before the season starts.  Gettleman got Cam & Luke done with little drama last summer.  There's no reason to think KK's contract signing won't be similar.

    • That's a very incorrect statement right off the bat, coaches get fired for winning ugly all the time.  Every coach of a playoff team that then gets fired, got fired because they won ugly and didn't improve their players enough to win in the postseason. Guys like Andy Reid have been fired for "winning ugly" like you said, because they kept winning in spite of the improvement of their players. Also, "this is a fanbase starved for wins" is a statement I also don't agree with, I'm not "starved for wins", I'm "starved for a winning and contending franchise" which are two VERY different things. If the team and fans just want to win some games, then that's a loser mentality, sorry, but it is.  We should want to contend, not win a handful of games.  Every time this comes up I point back to the Lions the last 5 years or so.  They were losing games but improving every week while doing so a few years back.  THAT is how you improve as a franchise and move the needle towards contending, not winning games ugly.
    • Good lord. I don’t think I have ever seen a hole that open.
    • this is true.  But NFL Ss and defenses are actively taking that away and playing to take them away vs most teams.  The problem thus far in BY's career......is they are cheating and not respecting the deep game which makes the smaller/mid range game harder to pull off.  and Dallas is an anomaly game.  using those random games that run counter to vast work......doesn't really change the discussion/issues in Carolina.  Bryce Young took the shots this week because they were not just NFL open but college open.    Wide open dudes downfield that really were coverage busts/issues.
