Tiny House Hunters

This show grinds my gears.  These people act like buying a tiny house and having no debt is the greatest thing in the world.  They all talk about how they can have more money to travel and other fun things.  And HGTV shows the people with pictures from Paris and London.  But does having no debt mean that their employer is going to give them more time off from work?  Last time I checked the average American has 2-3 weeks of vacation every year.  Being able to travel around the world for a couple of week a year isn't enough to make me what to buy a 200 sq ft home.  These people are delusional.

If I didn't have a wife and two kids, I would quit my job today, sell my house, and build a tiny house.

I wouldn't build one of the ones on a trailer, but I would build something less than 600 sq ft. My current home is over 2700 sq ft. and it has at least three rooms I could do without completely.

People buy houses that are too big for them, and work their entire lives to pay for it.

If you don't have to work your ass off on a daily grind for someone else's profit or end game, then don't.

The houses we live in are another disgusting example of how we can't be happy with simple things. Thoreau had the right idea. Most people are brainwashed to equate material things and houses with rooms that they never spend much time in with happiness. Our possessions actually possess us like mythical demons. Food, shelter, water. That is all anyone needs to be happy. And, if you think that isn't right, then talk to someone who doesn't have at least one of those three things.

I'm a fan of the tiny house movement. What I don't like about that show is people using them as vacation homes or something other than a primary residence.

I have 5 weeks vacation, looking at getting 6 weeks thanks to 10 years with the company.  Getting a tiny house on wheels and moving to the power line easement behind your house.  You mad?

I dont watch TV so I have no idea about this show that you are outraged about, but If I had a Tiny house with property paid for so that I only had to pay the taxes once a year I could travel heeps.  they wouldnt need to work a job like youre thinking, they have less bills = less expenses and houses are the biggest expense. They could work something seasonal state side and then jump the pond when the season is over, I did it for 3 years, spent 6 months in australia and 2 months(was supposed to be 5 months but got sick and came back early)

Stupid effin' show and stupid effin' people !!!  I think most of these folks also dont want to work and want to set their little house up next to mom's...  Run a power chord over and call it a day....   Most of them upon entering the first little house utter the pharse..  "Wow...  This is small !"  No sh.!.t Sherlock !!!

It's 2016 and a large chunk of folks can do their jobs remotely with a laptop and a hotspot.  I know I could for 99% of my duties.   It's not a stretch that I could get a tiny house and travel and work some while the wife and future kids could go out and we could meet up later on.   

I'm a fan of the tiny house movement.  We all have too much stuff.  I only have a townhome for wife and me but I get annoyed at stuff.  Sometimes I want an even smaller place because it's just not needed.  Plus the more crap you have, the more you are tied down.   The more you have to cool, and heat, and the more room you're just taking up on Earth.   Good for them.

I get that trending toward smaller housing has lots of benefits but the show basically misses the point IMO.  It basically pitches comical and extreme living to folks who it often doesn't mesh with.

I can take as much time off as I want....that said, I don't get paid for being off work.

If you set up on the south end I would never even know you were there. I haven't been there since August. If you see any kids yell at them to get off my lawn.
