Anybody else losing interest in the NFL?

Yes we are terrible but we have been terrible before (2010). Outside of Panther games which I can only stomach so much I've watched maybe 3 other games this season. I canceled Sunday Ticket because I spend my Sundays actually doing productive stuff. I don't feel like I'm "missing out" on anything these days. Players can't show any emotion, coaching has been atrocious (See Mike Shula) half of the Quarterbacks are absolutely terrible and half of the league was eliminated from contention after training camp concluded. Not to mention the pointless Thursday Night games and I actually go out of my way to avoid, the boring Sunday Night Games and Monday Night Football hasn't been exciting in 5 years.

Maybe I'm still salty from the Super Bowl but honestly everytime we've lost this year I've shrugged my shoulders and gone on with my day. Ratings are declining as well and I suspect that the NFL is just becoming noise at this point. Its like when a musician puts out a TON of music and most of it is trash. Eventually it all starts to sound the same and the good stuff is drowned out. I'm far more excited about the college playoffs and NBA season. And it sucks because I loved this league growing up. Now its just an overpriced, overexposed showcase of noise. What a shame.

Also Fire Mike Shula.

Honestly, I'm with you.

I will always watch my Panthers, always, no matter how painful it is.

But at a larger scale, I'm not as much of a fan of the league.

For me, Goodell, rule changes that take fun and emotion out of the game, and increasingly terrible and inconsistent refereeing are ruining this sport.

It's like being micromanaged by a terrible boss. It wears you thin.

The Denver game this year is a prime example of what I'm talking about. Trai Turner was halfway to ejection for showing excitement and emotion by jumping up and down when we scored.

Yet Cam was allowed to be assaulted because of his "running posture."

I mean get your priorities in check.

Ultimately though, the main issue is we suck right now, so I notice everything about the league that I dislike. It is easy to overlook things when you go 15-1.

I still enjoy watching other teams play, but its not the same though. I definitely got more enjoyment and generally was more interested last year when our team was so successful.

I usually have to work on Sundays , but if I'm actually off on Sunday I usually watch 2 games . Still pretty much always watch the Monday Night game. Almost never watch the Thursday game, its usually just an uninteresting match up that I can't galvanize myself to watch.

i'm literally more excited about my crap state mountaineers tonight than the panthers game on sunday

a damn wednesday night non-power 5 game on the ocho is beating the NFL right now, at least for me.

You mean the team whose only two losses came to teams that made it into the top 10? Go pull for western.

I really don't care for the NFL in general this year.    Sadly,  that includes the Panthers...since they are the biggest kiss asses in the NFL when  it comes to sucking up to the shield.

As soon as politics and social matters invaded the league on a large scale..........I realized that the games I used to love..........no longer provided me with an escape from the chaos and poo of the real world..

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
