I hope he goes over 200 on Thursday and remains on pace to break Gronk's regular season receiving yards record in addition to being the first and only TE to get 1000 yards in 3 straight years. Top 10 all time? No I don't like comparing players of different generations. Top 10 of his generation? Yes.

Yes, he's about to be the first TE in history to have three straight 1,000 seasons. Not even Gronk can claim such a feat.

Because he can't stay on the field. Gronk is probably the single most dominant TE ever, but he misses a lot of games.

That's part of the appeal of Olsen. He's a very consistent player both in terms of his play and his availability.

You have to take into account something the stats will never show -- his blocking ability. Otherwise its just a chunky or slow tight end.

Olsen blocks with the best of them. He takes care of his blocks whether he's on the line or in the backfield. The catches, yards and TDs are up there with the best of all time, but Olsen's a more complete tight end than just about any other one playing the game today.

Really, it's Gonzalez and Olsen at the top.

I love Olsen and he'll have a good block here and there but make no mistake about it, Olsen is a poor blocker for a TE- well below average.

as far as the modern TEs go (you can't really compare these dudes w/ the old school).

I couldn't put Greg above Gronk, Tony G or Sharpe. Gronk's time off the field IMO doesn't let guys leapfrog him.  IMO he remains the biggest mismatch the position has ever seen.  Sharpe gets a trendsetter bump to me.  Tony G, the push off king, is what he is.

I've got to disagree. When he's kept in to block, I think he does a pretty good job at it, which is really what you expect from a good TE, pretty good blocking, not great.

The thing is, man, we really, really depend on him as a receiver. That means he gets called on for quick chip blocks or rubs, all of which help but to lesser, and varying degrees. That's just how our plays are drawn up.

Heck, even Dickson, who was probably supposed to be our blocking TE, is generally shot out into the passing routes rather than held back in to block.

Olsen's definitely gotten a lot better at blocking, certainly showed the work ethic to improve through effort. But I still wouldn't put him toward the top end of blocking TEs. Based on what I've seen he's gone from bad at it to middle of the road. Which is ok by me, I mean for what he brings to the passing game getting anything in the blocking department is icing on the cake. Very very few TEs do both well.

What the hell happened to the almighty Jimmy Graham? He was once unreal.

My worst nightmare still is Graham going to the Patriots with Gronk.

Dude basically ripped his own leg apart last year and he's just now getting back to form. He's got a nice rapport going with Wilson out in Seattle. They are doing well together now.

Which will probably still happen.

I don't believe the Seahawks will keep him at his salery for the small impact he has on their offense.
