Really sad about this.  BBR was a key part of my Panthers obsession.

Bill's training camp Twitter list (of all the beat writers - about 20 accounts) was what I would log into 1st thing year round after checking email, international & local news.

And I of course loved his stats & superlatives, his locker-room videos, the snap counts each week, etc.  Basically, it was a great gold-mine of primary source Panthers news without too much editorial spin or clutter.

In case it's of interest, I'm working on trying to replicate Bill's Panthers Beat twitter list.

Here's the link:  https://twitter.com/PanthersFan_Afr/lists/panthers-beat

So far I've got:

  • Panthers, Huddle, BBR
  • PanthersMax, PanthersBryan, LibbyWeihsmann, PanthersPR
  • Joe Person, Jourdan Rodrigue, Scott Fowler
  • JJones (although no longer a Panthers writer exclusively, he still lives in CLT and so does have some Panthers news from time to time)
  • DNewton, SteveReed,
  • JonStout (WRAL - ususally has some good 1st hand training camp stuff),
  • Matthew Steves (USA today Panthers wire)
  • Matthew
  • Roaring Riot, MMelvinPhoto,
  • CoachRivera, CourtneyRivera

Are there any other beat reporters who routinely attend training camp / practice / press conferences that I should add?  Any of the CLT local tv guys/gals?

I'm pretty much wanting a feed that is MOSTLY a place to go for quick Panthers news and won't have a lot of frill or too much OTHER sports news (at least in football season)   I have a 150 of other Panthers fans & sports sites that I follow in my personal feed, but this list I want to keep pretty clean.

I keep feeling like I'm missing 2 or 3  twitter accounts that BBR had in his feed.  Let me know your suggestions for other feeds I should add.,

I remember the Sunday mornings around BOA from the early days until about 2005 when JR would make his rounds through the lots and visit tailgates and talk to people. Those days are long gone and it seems there is a huge disconnect between the fans and the people that are running the business.

I agree with everything except for the part I quoted.  I've personally seen JR riding around the tailgates just this year.  Plus, 2005 was 12 years ago.  He's 80 and has had a heart transplant since then.  I think we can cut him some slack on that part.

    • Truth. Like when UNC hired Butch Davis and then we get hit for recruiting violations. Like yeah, no poo. Dude coached Miami when they we paying like the 33rd NFL team. What did you expect?
    • He's a hard player to rank, cause he is a young NT. I do see his abilities to branch out among the DL. That's the only way for him to land in the 1st, some team has to believe he's got the stuff to play DE or T3.... I just don't see using 19 on him, I feel there should be around 7 players just ranked higher than him for the Panthers team.  ___________________________________________________________________   Now you are a roster nut like me. Im tossing this into fire, I think a good move is to trade UP, yes rare. Just the roster #s tell me 5 rookies and no more than 2 starters will make the team. I feel 5 is magic number.    QB- 2  BY, Pickett RB- 3   Chubba, Brooks(pls), etienne TE- 4   Sanders, Temble, Evans, Draft pick/major/franks/UDFA OL- 10   Walker, Lewis, Fortner, Hunt, Motown, Zavailla, Samac, Stone, Draft pick, Draft pick/Charles/carter WR-  6   Tmac, XL, Coker, Metch, Horn, Tremay   offense=  25 with 3 draft picks   DL-  6   Brown, Brown, Wharton, Ray, Cam, Hunter/draft pick Ed-   5  Phillips, Nic, Prince, Jones, ST/incoom/hampton ILB-   5  Lloyd, Wallace, Bam, Claud, draft pick CB-    5 Horn, Jackson, Thor, Evans, draft pick/CSN/UDFA SS-  4  Scott, More, Ramsom, Sim   Defense = 25 with 2 picks   ST = known 3+o+d = 53 roster   SO I see only room for 5-6 with factoring in UDFA pool. That tells me to trade up! Bonus the 1st+3rd gets in front of TB yucs. Then use one of the 5ths+2nd to draft another target. That's your two starters and use the 4th, 5th and 6th for the development OTs and what ever the best player are at the pick/DB. The last couple years they have added 2-3 UDFA each year, maybe the same this year too. Soooooooo Im normally 95% trade back, but above made me change my mind. I do not want to waive 5th rounder, I feel thats high with players on the bench.    ?? There's waiver claims too, they have done that each year.
