What is on G-mans top 10 list right now?

I know it's pretty early, but what do you think the first ten names on Gettleman's big board are?  I don't see any QBs or LBs, and no one on the offensive line will be good enough to go top 10.  BPA is not always just the best player, it's the player who is best for your team.  So on the Panthers, if a QB and a DE had the same "rating" we would consider the DE the BPA because we have a greater need there.

So anyway, here's my guess of what his board looks like right now.  The first few names are easy, but it gets a lot tougher after that.

Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
Jonathan Allen, DE/DT, Alabama
Jamal Adams, S, LSU
Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
Marshawn Lattimore, CB, Ohio St
Derek Barnett, DE, Tenn
Mike Williams, WR, TN
Dalvin Cook, RB, FSU
Malik Hooker, S, Ohio St
Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan

Has anyone seen Corey Davis highlights? I know he plays at Western Michigan but the guy is an absolute beast. He would be much different style of WR than what we already have unlike Mike Williams who is very similar to Benjamin and Funchess. He reminds me of T.O. a little bit. Maybe he isn't worth it at pick 8 but maybe he's someone we can trade back into the first round for if he slips into the late teens or early 20s.

If i had to guess I think we ultimately end up taking Fournette, Cook, Barnett or Adams

I agree with this list except replace Mike Williams with Jabril Peppers. We are talking about Dave Gettleman's top 10.

Don't expect Peppers to be a top 10 pick unless he has an insane combine.  I could see him falling into the 20s tbh.  There's a lot of concern on him right now, a lot of NFL scouts don't think he has a true position int he NFL.  He played three different ones in college and didn't really dominate at any of them.  He's a tweener.  No doubt a great player, but also extremely overrated over the past season or two.

  1. DT
  2. Situational LB

Rinse and repeat until out of picks. Hold presser with Ron where we smile like smug assholes who just outsmarted everyone else. Dismiss the fact that you did nothing to put protection in front of Cam or talent around him.

Let's ignore the fact he spent a first and second round pick on WR's in consecutive drafts and a third on a Guard while finding another pro bowl caliber guard as a UDFA finding 3 starters in those 4 players with another decent depth drafting of a tackle in the 4th round as well.

But he didn't draft anyone last year so no one cares about Cam.

It's low hanging fruit at this point man. Not clever or new, and the narrative is getting old. I put more blame on Shula, injuries, and FA then I do the draft at this point. Move on until he actually drafts a LB or DT in the first two rounds again, then you (and I) can bitch about how much of a dumbass he's being.

Gman doesnt have a draft board yet.  He is currently evaluating the roster.  He wont create one until well into free agency and after the combine.  Only sports journalist and us fans have boards and mock drafts this early.

If I'm not mistaken he sets his board before the combine anyway because the game isn't played in underwear.  I think they use the combine for interviews and to confirm their opinions mostly and it has little to no effect on his rankings.

    • It goes deeper than that for me. When I started watching the Panthers as a kid I fell in love with Mark Fields’ story during that SB run. He wore #58. Then TD wore it and kept the tradition of the being the soul of the Panthers. The next time someone wears #58 I hope brings that same spirit
    • T-Mac is a nickname, Tet is a shortening of Tetairoa. Like you said below... your name is Jonathan, I could see "Jonny" being considered a nickname, but Jon isn't a nickname, it's a shortening of Johnathan, see the difference? And if your mom named you Jonathan for it's biblical significance/meaning, because she was very religious, I think it would be different. T-Mac is Polynesian, so much in their culture has deeper meaning for them, particularly names.  So for his mom to feel this way, I highly doubt it's just because she likes the name Tetairoa and not Tet, it's much more likely than not to be because the name itself has a deeper meaning in their culture.   Particularly as T-Mac himself has often talked about how much his Polynesian heritage means to himself and his family. And no, I'm not saying all this because of how much he's my guy, if he was just "normal american" and his name was Jonathan and he didn't like fans calling him Jon, I'd probably just say tough poo.  It's that he's Polynesian and I know things like names have a much deeper meaning in their culture than they do in ours for the most part. For whatever it's worth, a quick google search.......
