89 hinting he may not stay retired

Heard a clip on the radio this morning of Smitty holding a interview with either Schefter or Raapaport... guy asked him about being retired and his answer was:

" I don't know if I'm going to stay retired ... I've never been retired before".

I would give my left nu... kidney if 89 put the black n blue back on. Not so sure that Getty is up for this.

Wouldn't take that too seriously. Sounds like just an off the cuff comment.

Regardless, I believe he was still under contract with the Ravens, so they'd retain his rights.

This, unfortunately.

He could come back in 2018 I believe

I can see Smith coming back to play... I read somewhere he is like 45 receptions away from going like 17th in history to top ten.  Plus, to many times players "retire" to then get the back and come back. Of course plenty don't.  I would even think he maybe joins a team towards the end of camp when one needs a WR or even sometime during the season when a contender is looking to maybe add a wr... escp if he could be him.

He is still technically a Raven until March but I assume he'd be an FA if he came back after the start of the 2017 league year since his contract ended this year.

Agreed though that he isn't coming back.

    • I think you should see the OP for pretty big reasons why that is a completely incorrect take given this is a Dave Canales team.
    • TMac is a good player and would've been the right pick if our QB could throw a ball farther than 40 yards. For this team's current build (run first, game management passing attack) and the fact that our TE's are laughably bad - the five on our roster have combined for less than 600 yards total, with 3 TDs - Warren should've been the pick.
    • If anyone feels like they can't have a conversation about Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career maybe assess why and how these conversations end this way instead of looking to shoot the messenger. Why is it okay to label anyone else on the team or coaching staff trash? Folks on the huddle and across the fanbase on social media have fully thrown anyone and everyone including rookie 8th overall pick TMac fully under the bus multiple times this season. But some of you guys apparently expect a pat on the back because Bryce Young successfully evaded a few potential sacks while Tyler Shough got consumed by our pass rush throughout the game and still had a superior performance. The state of this division is hilariously mediocre at best. Bryce Young is the only player on this roster who is allowed to have the lowest bar possible yet we have invested the most resources in him. It's lunacy.
