Who is your Combine Shocker this year

A lot of the players mentioned here will not be "shockers" because people already have a good idea what to suspect. Combine shockers are largely unknown players that arise from smaller schools, and cause scouts, execs and analysts  to scramble back to watch tape for the first time.

The Combine is really not as important as many people think, not to say that it is useless. Just having all the players in one place where they can be interviewed is very valuable, but the drills and 40 are not going to trump what has been seen on tape. Charlie Casserly says 90 percent of a players evaluation is dependent upon tape. Indeed, here is what Bryan Strickland had to say in reference to the Panthers.

"The combine is a key event in the draft process, but by the time it rolls around at the beginning of March, scouts already have evaluated the prospects (in some cases, for years). The combine does give potential draft choices a chance to show something else that didn't show up on film, but most of the opinions have already been formulated."

    • That’s not how it works, especially since we don’t have Horn follow #1s. It’s hell because the other team is usually throwing at you because Horn takes away the other option.
    • Jackson could never intercept a ball for the rest of his career and he’s still a very solid starting CB. It’s crazy to me people are saying things like he sucks or a good team would replace him. He’s been very good at covering guys and deflecting passes, which is even more impressive given that teams avoid the other side of the field cuz of Horn. Jackson is one of the better #2 CBs in the league and no amount of dropped interceptions changes that.
    • Weird take when Rico was literally an undrafted FA and we signed him for peanuts because his former team didn’t value him. The guy they replaced him with they also signed for peanuts and he’s 5th in the league in rushing and 3rd in TDs.
