The Question

Look I get it, Gettleman has his approach and formula for how he wants to do things and for the most part I think it could be a successful one. We see teams like the Eagles make big "splash" signings every year and end up folding. With that said though I feel like this year more so than any off season before we really are letting some good opportunities go to waste especially in the WR, CB and Safety market. Watching these guys slide by and even more so go to division rivals is getting me salty. Much less letting Ginn go to a division rival as well.

What's the big secret here? What am I missing? I'm beginning to wonder if he truly is an idiot. Take a look at the WR, CB and Safety signings today and I can say in good confidence that there's a guy there that each and every one of you think could have helped us. I know these threads get posted around this time every year and I usually hold out judgement but it's officially gotten my goat. My goat has been gotten.

Yea and you know what really ticks me off? Large mushroom, always popping up in my lawn. Did I plant them there noooo but there they are making themselves known by forming circles in my lawn. What really makes me feel better though is I kick the little lawn bastards. Kick them like Gram Gano kicks a extra point, wide and to the left.

I think its that DG is always going to look to the future.

I mean even if we sign D Jackson. He's only going to be useful for maybe two seasons before he's not worth it anymore. And despite our cap room we are caught in a place where we need to retain our own guys.

Torrey Smith would have been a decent signing but I'd argue Ginn is a better weapon than he is.  And we let him walk.

The biggest thing DG needs to do is protect Cam Newton and give the man some weapons.

The defense has Luke Keuchly, TD, KK, Shaq, Star and Bradberry. All whom display top of the league talent. It just needs help generating a pass rush. They will be formidable. But the offense has some serious concerns that need to be addressed.

Its mind numbing, every one knows how pathetic our WR core is and yet he wasn't signed one impact receiver.

it's really not. that KB and funch are a bunch of JAGs is one of the more entitled myths ever to circulate these boards.

however if he doesn't sign coredelle patterson i'm going to lose my absolute shit

KB is good but limited, needs a complementary piece.

Funchess is not even a JAG. He's whatever is below that

oh good a thread for all the dummies to gather and share their stupid opinions. I'm out.

Yeah, screw this guy for starting a thread on a message board expressing his opinion. On a serious note, just because you don't agree with his views doesn't make them stupid.  Need to grow up, bud.

    • Yeah, Bryce has to put that a little deeper. But XL can't allow the pick there. Gotta become the DB when you're undercut like that.
    • You see, I just don't subscribe to a cookie cutter type of philosophy when it comes to trades or team building. Every situation is different. Many may disagree, but I think that FOs that can't draft impact-players beyond the first round aren't really viable.  Just for argument's sake, because we all know this hypothetical trade is as realistic as the moon being made of cheese, Micah is a young dawg really just beginning his prime and is arguably the most valuable pass rusher in the league. He could realistically play at a high level for at least the next five to seven years. Parsons' current trajectory is Canton. That being said, he's not some old merc that fits the mold of "one piece away," he's a core piece to any defense for the better part of the next 10 years. Pass rushers of his caliber and age don't generally become available, so, sure, he'd help an elite team, but he's also a fit for a younger team that's building. I know that you don't agree, but it's all good. I respect your rationale.
    • Here's my not important take on this subject.  Who wouldn't want a pass rusher of his consistency?  I would absolutely love to have him on this defense.   Would I give up Brown in a trade for him.  Nope, I would never do that.  Interior linemen are way to important to be settling for whatever you can get at the position.   Would I trade 2 firsts,  plus fork out a big contract for him?   Without knowing if Young is for sure going to be our long term, franchise guy,  there is no way I'd be okay with letting go 2 firsts. As for the contract that he'd demand, I just dont get caught up with NFL contracts.  They have been out of control for decades.  So I really dont get upset over big contracts. It's just a fact of life in the NFL.  You HAVE to pay for talent.
