I've become ok with the idea that he will be our pick at 8 IMO.  If Fournette and Adams are gone by our spot, I have no doubt that Allen will be our pick and I've become ok with this idea.  His measurables are very close to Greg Hardy, just with a lot less baggage and with his motor and versatility, I think he has very good chance of being better than Greg.

I'd love this pick at 8. Why in the world are you guys saying Bama Defensive players dont pan out? Landon Collins, HaHa Clinton Dix, Marcell Dareus, Donta Hightower, Dre Kirkpatrick, and Reggie Ragland all come to mind off top of my head.

I've already expressed my opinions on Allen in multiple threads since the season ended. He's far from "forgotten." I even recently said somewhere that don't be suprised if hes the pick at 8 because of the shoulder stuff.

Personally, I don't want another Dlineman unless its a dominating DE. I don't want Thomas or Allen because they played primarily on the inside and we already selected DT in last first round and then also in recent memory with Short and Star. There's just no point in overloading your first round talent on one or two positions, it makes the talent level of the team unbalanced and you're going to end up struggling in areas you shouldn't be in my opinion.

You wonder why Cam always has to play with subpar talent and role players for the most part of his career on offense? Its because this organization loves to spend high picks on defense every draft unless there's an emergency situation (i.e. Steve Smith leaving in 2013) . If they make an offense minded draft for once I think that will be huge for giving Cam more talent to work with.

We've already seen Cam be an MVP with the likes of Ginn, Brown, and Funchess playing receiver and an oline with weak tackles. Give Cam a mega talent WR with wheels like John Ross , Dede Westbrook, Isaiah Ford, get a good young RB to spell Stewart and eventually replace him,  get some decent tackles for depth and maybe one of them turns out to be good enough to be a starter .. that's what they should do. Bonus if they get another pass catching TE as well, but I know that's asking for too much with 4 offfense picks in one draft for a defense minded organization like the Panthers. What I want is Offense in round 1 and with both 2nd rounders, they can use the rest of the draft for defense...

This all day, although the vaule is higher on the defensive side this draft, if the defense doesn't add one more player the rest of the offseason I still think they are top 5-10. I can't say the same for the offense

    • Watching Williams last night, guy has an arm and nfl ability  i see no future with Young.  either a player has nfl ability or they dont  cant survive on 20 or less points a game
    • Fowler: Bucs 23, Panthers 16. Baker Mayfield only won a single game when he was an unimpressive Carolina starter, but somehow he’s 5-0 when playing AGAINST the Panthers. For the Panthers to pull off this upset, they’ll need to score at least in the mid-20s. With Tampa Bay relatively healthy following a mini-bye (and Mike Evans’ return is huge), it feels like this will be too tough a task. Kaye: Bucs 24, Panthers 20. The win-loss-win-loss streak comes to an end. It’s hard to trust the play-calling following the loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers know what’s on the line, but they also knew last week, too. It’ll be close; I just have trouble trusting a positive outcome after a defeating one on the road. Zietlow: Panthers 38, Bucs 35. This prediction goes against conventional wisdom, but then again, conventional wisdom doesn’t seem to apply to these Panthers. This group, after all, has yet to lose back-to-back contests since Weeks 1 and 2. I think they win this one to make Week 18 interesting — and yes, that’s even with motivated Baker Mayfield and future Hall of Famer Mike Evans in good form. Why not?
    • Sam developed into a different player after he mostly sat for a year and learned a ton by being in that QB room under Shannahan in San Francisco.  Then he went to the Vikings who have a poo load of talent and another genius level offensive mind at HC in Kevin O Connel. I think they genuinely built up his confidence in a way he never did in New York or Charlotte.  He would not have been the same player if he stayed here IMO. Especially if he had been involved in that disaster season with Frank Reich in 2023, that might have cooked his confidence for good.  I guess you could argue we wouldn't have been that bad if we also kept cmc and dj i guess.
