Late Round Predictions

Recommended Posts

We have loads of threads on the first picks, here is one on the last picks. Who are some of the lesser known names that we might land in the 5th, 6th, or 7th and why?

I'm going to say we get Jeremy Cutrer - CB from MTSU. He is right out of the Josh Norman mold. Small school guy. 6'1" or 6'2" and 170 with room to gain a few lbs. ran a 4.5 40. From these clips, you can see him making some of the same sorts of plays that we saw Norman make and that we expect our CBs to make in our zone scheme.  Looks to be very comfortable in run support despite his thin frame. Honestly, he even has some of the mannerisms and flair that Norman had - not that either of those are necessarily related to performance. I think this guy is projected in the 6th or so - a quick search shows anywhere from 5th-7th.

couple of linebackers you might want to keep an eye on....we'll be looking
for someone to replace Klein, who we took in the 5th.  The one no one knows is
Connor Harris of Lindenwood....he's creeping up to 5 round levels.  Also Ben Gedeon of Michigan.

Wouldn't be a Draft without the annual WTF LB pick from Gman. Interested to see if And how Mayo's role increases now.

If we miss on one of the big RBs or go a different direction, really hope we grab one of the local guys.  Elijah Hood from UNC, or Matt Dayes from NCSU.  Hood is a beast to tackle, has the pedigree from high school on, and Dayes has a nice mix of everything with plus pass blocking.  Hood could be a 5th rounder or so, Dayes may even be an UDFA.

    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
    • Me, signing up for FanDuel Network, and then canceling FanDuel Network:
    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
