We saw all those stacked boxes because teams knew how Shula countered pressure. We were maddeningly predictable. Teams simply started sending extra blitzers to nullify our extra blockers. You don't have "extra" blockers when teams blue dog blitz you. Wade Phillips showed everyone the way.

And we continued to do that was because the only receivers who could beat press were slow as molasses. Oh and sometimes Philly Brown.    What else were we going to do, run spread with Bersin?   With Remmers at LT and no Kalil making line calls?

Maybe throw the ball to the 2nd TE on occasion instead of using him as a shitty undersized OT? Maybe throw the ball to Stew on occasion instead of having him stand beside Cam and holler "Dodge!" as the pass rush closes in? Maybe run a few quick slants instead of long, slow developing downfield routes. There was lots of things we could've tried, but we just kept doing the exact same things. If it's broke as fug, don't dare try to fix it, right? Wait, that's not how that saying goes at all...

Am I the only one who didn't think Williams played that great at RT?

I will go back and look, but I don't recall him looking that good to feel comfortable with him without seeing if he improved over the Summer.

Then again, I may have blanked out parts of last year in my memory.   My brain tries to protect me from traumatic experiences.

He shut down Vic Beasley twice. He held Dee Ford to only one sack while he was on a roll. He held down most pass rushers really well, and faced way harder competition than Remmers did.

A lot is riding on how well Kalil plays in all honesty, especially when you consider what he is being paid. Can't escape the fact we're paying him to be a top 10 LT. I understand the market and why Gettleman had to do it. For all the talk about him being cheap, he knows how important protecting Cam is going forward for his longevity. And there is nothing in my mind that is pointing to Oher coming back, even before this Uber crap.

I think we will end up with a good player at RT between Williams and Moton. The iffy part is it seems Moton is penciled in to be our backup LT. That is asking a lot for a rookie who didn't play that position in college.

Still not like having Bell and Chandler out there

Sucks, but I'm going into the season expecting something bad to happen. It will either be injury or lack of production from a position group were depending on, but I expect something to happen. The key is overcoming whatever happens. I'm hoping we're able to
