Curtis Samuel Is A Very Fast Guy

Eh. It wasn't that much faster and we already know that KB has a gigantic catch radius. I still think you're selling KB a little bit short.

Not at all just pointing out the obvious. Who thought KB would be as fast or as quick as a guy much smaller and lighter. KB is who he is and very different from Samuel. The fact he is slower isn't news or a big problem. Frankly that route while basic isn't the best one for KB. Slants are his specialty.

Fair enough.

Samuel looks fluid...  That's the difference to me.  KB doesn't look bad...  he's just a different kind of reciever.  That's good imo, gives Cam more options.

Also... forum etiquette...  stop quoting OPs.  Esp ones that are long and have pics...  it's not necessary.

Samuel has almost a full second on KB from start of the route to finishing his break and ready to catch in those two clips.  A second is a long fuging time for any given play.

Those counting the time from start of the route to the catch point are doing it wrong.  Count the time of just the route itself.

IMO what KB loses in speed he makes up for it in stride and catch radius.  You want to burn someone you use Samuel.  If you are looking for a receiver to win a fight for the ball.  I would take KB just because his size and strength. (In Before Smitty was small and strong)

Two different types of receiver.  They both will benefit from the other being on the field.  You only have so many defenders that can double.  Someone is going to be singled covered.  IMO both will be productive and our offense is going to be a DC's nightmare.

A second or so can be a huge difference maker.  Especially when you consider Cam getting the ball out of his hands.  It's a big deal to me.  KB doesn't look like he's slow as molasses though.  Still..kid looks quick and it will help dividends.  Pretty snappy ass route too.

Both will be extremely difficult to defend, but for different reasons. KB can box out the shorter defender and make the catch difficult to knock away. Samuel shiftiness can create separation that's difficult to cover, especially if he's stopping and starting like he is in that clip

Benjamin is upfield after the catch in 5 seconds after the snap and Samuel is upfield after 6 seconds following the snap. Samuel cuts 3 seconds after the snap, has his head around 4 seconds after the snap, makes the catch 5 seconds after the snap, and is upfield 6 seconds after the snap. Benjamin cuts 2 seconds after the snap, has his head around 3 seconds after the snap, makes the catch 4 seconds after the snap, and is upfield 5 seconds after the snap.

The lesson is long striders with big bodies > shorter receivers with quick feet on short routes. Benjamin covers more ground in fewer steps than Samuel.

Benjamin has an additional  second added pre-snap to his clip. Samuel's clip starts with the snap.

Samuel better be fast because he is wasting time/movement with his dancing feet.

The clips tell me Samuel gives too much time to the DB to read him and make a play on the ball while KB sets the DB up with much less time to read and make a break on the ball. Typical over hype of a rookie.

Might I add:

KB: Going into his 4th year in the NFL.

Curtis: Going into his 4th offseason practice..

Give the kid sometime to get coached up and get his feet wet.
